For some time I’ve been using a mental RC: I’m asking myself who I am, where am I, how I got here and whether it’s a dream or reality. Since I’ve started doing that, I’ve experienced some very long and vivid NLDs. It might probably happen because of these new RCs of mine or due to more sleeping hours (10-11h while I’m usually sleeping ~6h ). This makes me belive I’m getting closer and closer to my goal!
Anyway, last night I had a dream. Long one, it also felt very real. My SC has almost entirely recreated the layout of my town. I can even remember the way I was walking in dream because it was very similar (if not identical) to the one IRL. It only had a few awkward situations - a teleport pad behind my school (I might have seen and used it in my other dreams, always sends me to one place), a bus driving into a swimming pool with water made of gelly and an angry bull chasing me around a non-existant road. Really, a rampaging bull?!
However, there was one thing that made me curious. When I was about to leave the swimming pool with my friend, I told him about the gelly water. He then asked me if this was a dream (he is aware of LDs irl but can’t be bothered to practice doing it). I told him “No chance!”. A few moments later I thought to myself “What if it IS a dream?”. Then I tried the nose RC. It didn’t work
Could anybody tell me what has happened and why it didn’t work? When I’m using nose RC in waking life I’m imagining the air going through my nostrils.
Your dreams are in a way answering your desire to become lucid, by offering you opportunities, and tickling your critical mind. For why the RC didn’t work, you’d have to find out yourself. What did you feel while you were doing it? Were you imagining the air going through as well like IWL? What would you have done if you became lucid at that point?
Hope you find the good answers and you sure are getting close to your goal, so sweet dreaming!
hah
nice dream man
if you find yourself in a lucid dream try telling a DC that they are in a dream
some of the responses are hilarious
as for the RC
i find that whether LD or ND, you can be in a light enough sleep that the sound/sensation of your breathing can bleed into your dream. same way sounds and voices can…
what could have happened is: in the general awareness of your dream you may have entered less of a deep sleep
and upon trying the nose RC you actually felt your RL nose and lungs taking in air?
Thanks for the responses!
That breathing through nose RC failed completely - I just couldn’t breath, it was like I was awake, in real life.
However, last night I’ve had a dream in which gained some lucidity - I vividly remember my own room but the walls were of different color. I did nose RC. I could breathe this time Turned around to look on my TV. I decided to change it to some super new, HD ready one. I might have screwed it up because I was thinking “Don’t get too excited!” Well, at least I didn’t fully awake, just went with the flow.
