LC #25, Winner: Solaris! Congratulations!

I had two very long LD’s last night. Unfortionately they were not related to the challenge. That is because image streaming is crucial for my intention for a specific LD, and I forgot to do it before going to bed

Long LD ° 2x40 ° 80 points

One day extension because I forgot to update the task and now have to go to work

My dream last night

SPOILER - Click to view

This time I did remember the challenge. I became lucid immediately when the dream started. I was in my old room in my parents house. I tried to summon a piano but failed, so I decided to look for one elsewhere in the house. I first looked in other rooms on the same floor, and then descended the stairs to look in the living room. I still couldn’t find or summon one, so I turned on the radio instead. As usual in my dreams, it played some nice jazz music.

I needed to be an artist though so I looked on the first floor again, this time a little more thoroughly.

As you can imagine, when I finally returned to the living room empty handed I started to become a little frustrated. Luckily, a small piano appeared on an old stack of books near the fireplace. It had no standard, so I decided to put it on the kitchentable. Finally I could produce some art. I was a little worried that it was too small to produce good music, but while it wasn’t as nice to play as the piano I use in daily life, it was alright.

First I played in tune with the radio, but it soon turned into a news program instead, where an old neighboor was telling about her hobbies. It was a little weird as I could see her husband unloading his car through the kitchen window. Regardless of the change in programming, I played on. I played several more songs before the dream ended.

Please note that this is for the challenge to be an artist, not for the one where you needed to make music. Being a musician, art pretty much equals music from my perspective

And the points:

SPOILER - Click to view

Long LD° 40 points
Making art ° 30 points
Total ° 70 points

Solaris: I’m sorry, but while music is a form of art, this task is specifically for visual art. I unfortunately cannot count that, unless you had drawn/painted/sculpted/rendered the piano first and then played it.

The new task will be up later today as well as current standings. Sorry for all the delays lately, work is getting very busy.

I fail to see the part where it’'s said only visual arts are allowed. In fact it says quite the opposite. We are allowed to make anything.

I’m sorry if I misunderstood, but I specifically set my intention to play jazz in this dream and succeeded. Otherwise I would have produced visual arts, of course. I just didn’t realize that was the task.

So just give me the points

Please

I suppose I did not specifically say that it was only for the visual arts, but it seems to me as though it was pretty heavily implied. Adding to the equation that making music was its own separate task, I did not think this would be an issue. You are right, however, in that the term “art” is a little too broad for what I had in mind. And looking back I see you did mention that this is what you had wanted to do for this task and I did not notice to correct you in time.

Now that we cleared up the confusion we can discuss points. Because my rules were too vague and I did not address your intention in time, I will award you the points you earned. Point calculation below…

Puce:All right, let me give you the extra |+20pts (violin)| you deserve. As stated before when idanl09 asked, singing does not count as an instrument, only for making music. Oh, and that lucid moment at the end looks long enough to count as a short LD, so |+20 lucid pts|

The Scientis: Those two short LD’s garner you |+40 lucid pts|

Shinji: Another short LD gets you another |+20 lucid pts|

Hex: Very nice dream! For the art task you recieve |30 lucid + 20 early + 30 art + 20 more art (digital) + 20 interaction = 120pts!|. Well done! And let’s not forget the lucid points. Since it doesn’t say otherwise, I’m going to assume a medium LD? In that case |+30 lucid pts|

Solaris: Impressive as always :content: . You actually shorted yourself a little on the points for the task. Calculations come to |30 lucid + 20 early + 30 art = 80pts| and I’m sure we’ll see a repeat of this task from you later for a few more points  . I count 3 long lucids total giving you |120 lucid pts|

The Sixth Task, if belated, is finally here.

Sixth Task: Be A Super Hero (Or Villain)

ZOMG! It’s the evil Doctor!!!

Get out your spandex underwear, you’ve got a town to save… or destroy. There are a couple of parts to this task, some easy and some not so easy. The first thing a Super needs is an alter ego, costume included. After that, you’ve got a choice to make. Do you use your powers for good or for evil? It’s all up to you

First thing’s first: turn yourself into your alter ego.

-For coming up with a name and costume +30pts
-For every different power that you use you get +20pts
-For making a DC sidekick you get +10pts. And yes, you can use your friend for these points.

Now on to business: choose good or evil, you cannot do both; you don’t have to decide this until you’re in your dream.

-Good: you prevent a crime or save a life; Evil: you commit a crime or take a life +10pts for the first and +5 for every after.
-Good: you save the city (or world) from total destruction; Evil: you conquer/destroy the city (or world) +20pts
-Good or Evil: you fight your arch nemesis +30pts if you win or +10 if they win or escape.

There’s a whole heck of a lot to do in this task, so hop to it. The world needs you… or needs to be rid of you. Good luck!

Nice Idea

Thanks for the recalculation Rhawin. Maybe I was pushing it a little, but I really am a musician, and not a painter or sculpter :content:

I think you miscalculated the points though.

3x long LD = 120 points
Early = 20 points
Art = 30 points

My LD last night: 40 points

Total = 210 points

Also, I had another LD last night.
In this dream I was being chased through a mall. I became lucid when I exited the building, but the dream still had a sense of urgency. I remember there was a metro running over the road, and that I wanted to take it. I missed it though. Then I decided to fly for a bit.

I really need to image stream more often, but I too often forget my intention when inside an LD. I also don’t remember everything because I had this dream very early in the night, and my recall is not that good at that time. It was a long LD though.
I just got a short LD the night before last night (link). I’m tired of reporting dreams just for the lucid points, so I’ll hopefully be able to do something in the next one.

Solaris, you get 30 pts for completing the task while lucid in addition to the lucid points

[community.ld4all.com/t/james-uk2008s-dream-journal-part-4/32041/108)

Didn’t complete the task(s) or quite complete a transformation but this was by far the longest LD I have had so far (around 10 mins). Usually when I’ve become lucid in the past they’ve often been pretty shortlived 1-2 mins.

Long LD: You have what you would consider a long LD. + 40pts.

+5 point for chaining from FA
Making 45pts altogether.
Think that covers it…

In this dream I once again forget the intention I set myself, but after thinking for a while I remembered the previous task to be an artist. I looked around the house for the right equipment, but it took a while before I found it. There was an easel inside the living room but it had a metallic plate on it, so I couldn’t paint. I decided to look elsewhere anyway, because I couldn’t find any brushes either.

I found some drawings lying alongside a big pile of pencils on a table outside in the garden. All drawing consisted of many colorful zigzagging lines of equal lenth, so they weren’t very artistic. I took a seat and tried to erase the drawings, as I needed blank paper to actually draw something. I tried to erase the paper by willpower but failed, but in the second attempt I also made gestures with my hands, and that worked. I now had two blank pieces of paper to draw on, so after all this trouble I thought I was ready to be an artist. Unfortionately the dream ended.

The dream was medium length.

@james_uk: didn’t you say it was your longest LD you’ve ever had? Wouldn’t that make it a long LD? You might want to rethink your time scale… but congratulations! :yay:

Changed. Thanks for convincing me  I do have a nasty habit of underselling myself so to speak.

Sadly, still no tasks completed. I got close to summoning someone to help me (Find Friends), but the dream was just too disagreeable. I’m happy with it, though; it was surprisingly stable and I kept my lucidity throughout the whole thing.
Bedridden
Fascinating title, eh? I’m living my life as I normally do (sort-of). One of the key differences that’s worth mentioning is that there’s LD4All TV! Sure, there are only about five actual shows on there, but it’s still pretty cool. Anyway, I go to bed at some point and, upon waking, do a habitual RC. Woo! I’m in a very stable LD with full lucidity. Problem: I’m seeing double and have trouble moving. Seriously, it’s very hard to do anything. I even go back to sleep and wake up again multiple times (i.e. have my eyes closed for five seconds) simply because that’s the only thing I can do. After quite a bit of that, I manage to get out of bed. I rub my hands, which only slightly improves my vision. However, I can’t take it for very long and fall asleep again.

Back in bed. I can tell that someone/something is in my room and fall asleep again to escape it. In the next scene, I try rubbing my hands once more. Problem: they’re invisible. When I can feel that they are in front of me, I only see a slight blur in the air. If I rub them, they slowly materialize. Neat! I then get the idea to ask for help.
“Help, please,” I say in an accidentally sing-song voice.
My vision instantly improves and I can move a bit more easily. These improvements are accompanied by the classic ringing noise that usually accompanies the sudden appearance of magicians in TV ads. I am comforted by the unseen stranger and can feel as though I’m being cradled (though that may have been the waking-up feeling).
EDIT: I just realized that I haven’t clarified my dream length in a while. :bored: Every one has been, unless stated otherwise, “short.” That is all.

Once again I had an LD last night, and once again I totally forgot to complete a challenge :bored: Here’s the summary.

SPOILER - Click to view

At the start of the dream I explored a parking area, when I decided to chalk some messages on the ground. Two of these were spiritual messages about the nature of truth, while the other two contained financial advice. I felt confident while chalking the messages, but when I was done I was worried because people would consider them weird. Especially the messages about truth, although I knew they were extremely important and worthwhile.

Inside the building I met two friend, one male and one female. As we were talking a man sneaked up behind us and stole something. We chased him throughout the building, which turned out to be a swimming pool. The man jumped into the water, but by the time I was in he had already swam to another side and exited. I ran after him again. He jumped over a fence, but by the time I got there he was out of sight. I looked for him in several hallways, but couldn’t find him. When I got back to the entrance, I realized my friends were gone as well.

I realized I was dreaming for no particular reason, and walked outside again. I didn’t really know what to do, so I decided to summon a chair to sit and think about it. An old lady walked up to me from behind and said some things to me, but I don’t remember the words. I couldn’t see her either.

I didn’t remember the tasks of the challenge, so I decided to walk inside the building again to eat. I remember there being a fast food store near the entrance. When the girl at the counter yook my order I decided to order an insane quantity of meat. The meat was apparantly already cooked, because she placed it on my plate right away. There were several hamburgers as well as a sausage, chicken meat, and various others. It looked very, very good. I also order french fries, but the girl said they had none in supply. She asked for payment, and I realized I didn’t have any. I summoned some coins and placed them in her hand. She was happy with it.

Unfortionately my dream ended at the moment I took my first bite. As you can imagine I’m a little annoyed by it, as even now I’m getting hungry just by thinking about that delicious plate

Earlier in the night I also had a ND where I completed the superhero challenge

SPOILER - Click to view

The dream started at a company that I used to work for part time. I met an old friend here who asked if I wanted to go for a ride. When driving in his truck I thought it was strange that he was driving so fast in what looked like a maze of greenhouses.

We stopped at a marketplace where we met up with a female classmate, and an unknown dream character. I remember spending the entire day with this classmate so although there wasn’t any apperant physical attraction, I wondered if she liked me. We went to a small store to by some snacks, but the store owner looked pale and ill. As he is a friend in RL as well, I asked him what was wrong. He said he was ill but that he would become better. I was concerned for him, but as I couldn’t help him I just bought the snacks and left. Then we went to the city.

We went to a big, but fictional city. I was immediately impressed by how beautiful it was. The streets were completely clean, and there was no garbage anywhere. The skycrawlers in the centre centre looked both imposing and dreamlike. Even looking back on this dream I am awed by just how detailed and beautiful everything was.

The city was the only thing that felt beautiful and right, because I also used two superpowers to make the world a better place. Three of my friends had been transformed into small statues by a madman. After completing his evil act he took them with him and disappeared into the city. I used my power of flight to go after him. I remember flying above a castle and near a subway that was running above ground. The sensation of flying over this beautiful city was amazing.

I don’t remember how I found my friends again or whether I fought the evildoer, but I did undo his work by transforming all three of them into their human form again. The tranformation went effortlessly and felt extremely right.

In the last part of the dream I tought the other characters how to fly. The classmate learned quickly, although she wasn’t as good as me, but the dream character had a lot of trouble. She grabbed my hand and we went up into the sky. At that point she became my sidekick.

All three characters were impressed by my powers. Finally, I decided to explore the city for myself. I simply stretched out my hand and floated into the air. The sky, the buildings and other landmarks; everything was beautiful and I wanted to explore it all. But as I floated higher and higher into the air the dream ended.

I Had a ND when I faught with evil teacher in the school, and he had magical powers, I tried to stop him because he did bad thing, he raped his daughter.
And my borther helped me.

Before the challenge started I set myself the challenge of finding out more about my primary purpose in life. Last night I had several dreams that helped me.

SPOILER - Click to view

First dream
In this dream I was driving a kart, but it was quite slow. I met up with several people of my sports club, and decided to drive to a nearby town. I wannted to drive my kart, but they had their own car and they persuaded me to drive with them. We first went through a forest road, and then through a maze of greenhouses. We came to a small bridge, but it went into the water when we tried to cross it.

After we had all emerged from the water wet but unscatched the second part of the dream started. I saw a car driving on a mountain road from a beautiful birds perspective. The driver wanted to drive up the mountain, but when he tried to do so the mountain started to crumble down. It was an impressive sight to see everything collapse. The ground was so far below that I couldn’t see it. The car spiralled towards its doom, together with dozens of pieces of rock.

‘Life is about finding out your own purpose and then working towards it,’ one of my friends said.
‘But he has no alternative options!’ I replied in horror.

I watched the whole scene again, although it went a little quicker this time. The car speeded up and tried to reach the safe part of the mountain, but he was half a second too late. Again, the car fell to the unseen depths below.

Second dream
This dream started in a bar. I was drinking a beer with a few friends who invited me to military training. I thought it would be an interesting and worthwhile experience, so I agreed.

The next day we drove a helicopter over a mountaineous landscape. We were either shot down or took a break, but when we exited the vehicle we were ambushed by four enemy soldiers. We ran up to some crates and hid behind them.

My friend was sure we wouldn’t survive, because we were outnumbered two to one and in a bad position. He didn’t take any action, but simply waited for them to come to us. I was in more of a fighting spirit, and thought my chances of survival were good. From my position in hinding I fired a lasergun and threw a handgrenade. I hardly saw the lasers, and the gernade seemed to excist only in my mind, but my friend remarked after a few seconds that we had won. I thought the entire situation was strange, but did not become lucid.

My friend kept remarking how incredible it was that we had won. ‘Such victories only happen in videogames, but never in real life,’ he remarked.

Before the dream ended I saw several highly detailed drawing of several vehicles, including the helicopter and a truck. They were drawings of lego, but they were extremly realistic.

Third dream
This dream started in my parents house somewhere in the past, but at that time my parents had already died. My sister and I were both there and an uncle of mine visited us. It was a short meeting, but I don’t exactly remember how it went.

The dream then took a more philosofical turn. I started to think about the death of my parents, but the primary thought was that I saw my family a lot at first, but that their visits became less and less frequent as time passed. I was not angry not did I experience any other emotion. I simply accepted the thought, and wished them well in their lives regardless of what the future might bring. If anything it felt like a distance was increasing between us, but it still felt right.

I then started thinking about my primary purpose in life. I know that I want to help people understand the universe and our place in it, but as I started thinking more about it I realized that it didn’t feel right. Suddenly it hit me that what I really wanted to do was become an artist. I am a musician and my dreams are important to me, and I even used to draw a lot in the past, but I never seriously considered art as a profession. As I realized this is where my passion lies I started to cry.

After this realization I had an FA where I sat up in bed, but looked at a very different room then my own. I realized what had just happened and became lucid. Unfortionately the dream was already at it’s end and I woke up.

The dreams above are important to me, as they contain thoughts and images that relates to my primary purpose in life. Here’s my interpretation.

SPOILER - Click to view

The message of the first dream is that concerning your primary purpose there are two layers of actions in life. First you have to choose the path that you want to take. Secondly you need to take the right actions to realize this path. The first step should always come for the second. This thought is very important to me as I thought I knew what I wanted to do with my life a few months ago, but after a while I started to doubt myself. This dream was helpful and inspiring, although I didn´t like to see the car plunge to it´s death.

The message of the second dream is that there are many worthwhile experiences in life, but that there will also be challenges. Life is all about conquering those challenges, even if the odds are against you. Techical understanding is also important to me, as is emphasized by the helicopter and the technical drawings. That they were made of lego shows that there should also be an element of fun.

The message of the third dream is that art is more important to me then either training or coaching, and that I should reconsider the various options that I have. I don´t have to be a trainer or a coach, but I could also be an artist. Indeed, it isn´t the act of training or coach that inspires me, but rather the message that I can bring to people. I know there are ways to give inspiring messages through art as well, so I should not look at it as being infirior to more intellectual professions.

In short, it has given me a lot to think about

I briefly became lucid at the end, but otherwise they were ND´s. They did relate to the task I set for myself before the challenge though.

Ahem Another short LD. <—Okay, not interesting, but I did recover from a FA, if only for a second.
