Oh hey, look. Surprise tasks! I could almost toss up between both the scifi and the fantasy dream tasks… but since there was more scifi due to the tech and time travel portals I’ve decided to claim that one instead of the other.

dream magical creatures are my new favorite thing, between obfusc8’s goat/dog/dragonfly and Koal44’s octopus/giraffe/dragon (dream art, anyone? i would love to see these creatures!)
Susan_Y: ive always wanted one of those cushions, my legs fall asleep after 10 minutes when i sit without one
Cornelia: i would totally read a book about a robot that uses magical items
PremiumOtter: the longer you stay consistent the more impressed i am!
the last week of the challenge is coming soon… stay tuned to see what the final tasks will be!
Books in the Great Library:
Saturday: no recall (intense dreams, but couldn’t hold on to the memory of what happened when waking up); rc on waking; meditation
welcome to our last week of challenges! now is the time to reap the fruit of all the good habits youve been creating and start noticing those dream signs, if you havent been already!
The Great Library: Week 3: Mystery
the great librarian taps her foot and crosses her arms as she looks you up and down. “my senses arent often wrong,” she begins, “but they must be off today because i dont sense a single book on you and surely, surely you have more books for me? after all, the library opening is in only a week!”
“no…” you reply, trying not to wilt under her withering glare. “…but there were three yesterday! and 22 books isn’t exactly a bad start. im pretty sure thats more books than most people have read in their entire lives.”
the librarian looks a bit like she has just suffered a mortal wound, but rallies and gets back to business.
“no matter, we can get more. we will get more! more books!” she stares at you owlishly.
“more books,” you agree.
“i have been working hard on my end of things here, making shelves that can collect certain genres of dreams, and i am happy to report that i have a new section waiting for you.”
“dont leave me in suspense,” you say.
“right you are!” she cries. “our new section is for mystery books!”
“looks like we solved the case!”
“dont get ahead of yourself, we still have to collect books for it. keep an eye out for anything you notice that is confusing or out of place, like a relative you havent seen in a long time suddenly showing up in your work place, or a boat on your roof, or that you have somehow snuck into your childhood home or school despite that you arent supposed to be there anymore.”
“how do i know if its really a mystery?” you ask.
“hmph! well if you have to ask, it must be a mystery, dont you think?”
“i… guess that makes sense?”
“any dream where you feel something is mysterious will do. shoes in your pudding, pudding in your shoes, all of it is very mysterious even though it happens all the time.”
“of course it does.”
“so if you see something like that, it might be a mystery. if you wonder about it at all, it definitely is a mystery. if you find out the toaster did it, then you solved the mystery! in fact, you can even solve a mysterious circumstance by realizing that it is because you are dreaming! now get out there and be confused!”
“yes ma’am! i mean… yes ma’am?”
this weeks special challenges are:
ask a question, witness a crime, see someone or something out of place, or be somewhere you shouldnt be in a nonlucid or lucid dream (each thing can be found once per person, multiple at once is fine)
dream a mysterious dream (this is in addition to, and separate from, finding any of the four things)
solve a mystery, in a lucid or nonlucid dream (can claim points once total)
I have dreams again! And a few more books! One of which is… well… it’s fantasy… but… I think belongs next to Incarnations… I can provide more details, in private, if the librarian doth wisheth. Some of the things claimed for the second dream also happened in the redacted bit…
EDIT: Upon inspection… we can only contribute one fantasy / scifi / mystery themed book per day… so only one of those below count.

oh no, two books, which one is a librarian to choose… the librarian subtly snatches the book out of the air and places it in the restricted section, for qualified scholars only, scholars such as herself, who are very qualified, and must drown themselves in scholarly research to lament the book they had to miss out on
no details necessary, though if you want to share what the mythological creature was, it can live in our imaginations besides the octopus/giraffe/dragon and the goat/dragonfly/dog
Books in the Great Library:
Still just chugging along.

PremiumOtter: in your latest dream it sounds like you may have witnessed attempted murder and/or conspiracy to commit murder, which would give you a for witnessing a crime.
james_uk2008: i dont know what your dayjob is, but most people arent allowed in commercial aircraft cockpits so you could claim a for being somewhere youre not supposed to be, if thats the case
Obliverum: Cool, then I shall claim that point as my first task of the challenge (finally amiright ).
As for today’s report, 2 fragments and a whole dream + the ask a question task.

not only that, but you quite definitely saw a superhero , plus performed either an act of science or magic depending on the origin story (im not familiar with the characters) and you can bet that this superhero fight scene belongs in a book that the librarian would like for her collection, thank you very much! in fact, shes taking the book either way.
congrats on the increased dream recall
Books in the Great Library:
The mythological creature(s) were, uh… rather… “normal” compared to those others. Also… they were rather “normal” as it wasn’t the first time I’ve encountered demons and succubi in my dreams.
This morning’s dreams were a little blurry, and so I don’t have much recall to report. I was trying to recover a fanfiction or story I wrote… but it was digital… so not a book… Also, I never really got a hold of it… I just… recall recalling what it was about.

Lots of recall this morning. All game-themed… Sadly, I haven’t been doing my reality check as much as I should… but I almost caught something in the second dream! Tonight, though, will be better! … Wow, I scored a lot of points… Especially when you count “finding your disappearing bike” as “solving a mystery”

please do! also robotic bikers sound like a kind of robot to me, so you should probably claim another it sounds pretty scifi to me, in fact!
the librarian claims the scifi robot chase dream and adds it to the library
congrats on the good night, Cornelia!
the librarian happily places “the mystery of murder town” in the premiere place on the mystery shelf, cross-referenced to the scifi section
may i also note again that attempted murder is a crime, at least on this planet… not sure about the alien one you were on but you can claim the point if you want.
Books in the Great Library:
the librarian snoops around for any missing books and finds “the mystery of the missing keys” in Koal44’s dj. her long greedy finders snatch it up and add it to the mystery shelf.
