Quite recently I had a LD but had no powers in it atall. When I false awakened I knew I was dreaming. I turned over and my girlfriend was there holding a knife to the side of her head, pointing away. I threw the knife away then thought “right, time to LD.” I closed my eyes and said “when I open my eyes I will be in Brijaton” but when I opened my eyes I wasn’t there, I was still in bed. I tried this several times but nothing happened and eventually I woke up.
So my question is, how come I had no powers though I was fully lucid? Can any mages out there teach me a few powers maybe?
When I go to places I’ve always found it easier to imagine a door and then say for example: When I walk through this door, I’ll be in ______.
And the more lucid dreams you have the easier it will become and you’ll get more control too
First, don’t worry. Level of control and powers vary according to the dream. Second, when you want to do something in a LD, try to obtain it by following the dream logic or the dream scenario. It’s easier to transform things than to create them from scratch, for instance. It’s easier to find things behind you, behind a door, in your pockets than to make them appear in front of your eyes.
Just an example: I became once lucid in a FA, yet I was frustrated by this FA cause I wanted to come back to the previous dream scenery (a beautiful park with fountains and aztec ancient buildings). It went out of my house and decided that the park was around the corner. And it was.
if i had that dream i think i would be a little more concerned about my girlfriend holding a knife to her head… is this something she frequently does IRL?
nah but yeah just try other techniques or try a totally different power instead next time. Perhaps you were just missing out a step in the technique… when i close my eyes to teleport somewhere else I have to visualise the scenary around me changing even though i can’t see it happening. If I were teleporting to somewhere cold, i would try and feel that cold before i open my eyes. Or if i was in a room, I would try and feel the sun on my back before i open my eyes, and feel the wind blowing against me.
The only thing you need is practice. I’ve recently had a lot less LDs, but I’m not giving up, and my subconscious tends to throw me bones although it is fickle. I have very loose control over my dreams. What I do is be extremely respectful to my subconscious, because in my opinion that is the most important part of lucid dreaming.
