mumbo jumbo

i really believe that theres alot of hogwash arising from this rising popularity in lucid dreaming. i believe in lucidity 100%, but some methods are questionable. Here you have this wonderful activity that costs no money and (if you think about it) requires very little effort. I’ve never heard one success story for hemi sync audio, i hear nothing but disappointment over the nova dreamer, usually regarding cost, discomfort and no results. i think its just a bunch of greedy businessmen trying to make a buck on something amazing and FREE. the best results come from good ol’ WILD’S, MILD’S, WBTB’S and things of the like. as far as foods and supplements go i think its just nit picking by frustrated people in their slow climb to achieving lucidity. i’ve taken b vitamins and noticed absolutley no difference at all.
What does work though are the methods created by laberge and others (wilds milds etc) meditation seems to smooth the transition from wake to sleep and a dream journal does increase recall. i don’t mean to sound all negative, but even if they do even help slightly whats actually getting you there is the methods. save your money. save your time and start lucid dreaming.

Probobo, I agree with you on some matters. MILD, WILD, and WBTB are probably some of the best methods to try. I believe that the reason that some methods work are psychological. I have had success with the Suneye Method, however. 3 times in one night! You can’t really say that vitamins or other substances have no effect for sure. More research needs to be done on that, but it could be just a psychological thing as well. As for hemi-sync audio, or brainwave generators, I’ve never heard any success stories from them either.

The supplements I have tried, especially melatonin and 5-htp, certainly, if nothing else, help relax me and lets sleep come much more easily. In the morning hours it becomes easier to return to sleep if I should wake, which might benefit WILD attempts.

Every little bit helps, even if it is just placebo, and if someone is willing to invest in it I don’t see why not. Shelling out inordinate amounts for a nova dreamer is a different matter though…

I tend to stay away from the drugs, but I guess whoever wants to risk their health…

All in moderation…

Probobo,
Of course the tried and trusted methods are usually the best, but by using other as yet unproven methods and supplements etc on top of these established methods, you become part of the ongoing lucid dreaming experiment and may discover something important. Many of these things actually work very well for some people, the NovaDreamer in particular worked incredibly well for me and induced many lucid dreams. I once had five lucid dreams in one night while using the NovaDreamer - all induced by the light cues - so to dismiss it in this way unless you have personal experience of it is not very constructive. Surely we all want to maximise our potential for lucid dreaming - without experimentation we will never discover potentially usefull new aids and methods.

If you feel the need to continue in LD experiments with unproven methods, you should post your experiments/results in the Lab so it becomes a little more organized and “formal” if you will.

Say what you will about foods, but I swear that raw sardines help me go lucid.
