“Steve, you don’t know what you’re messing with! you’re going to be possessed by a demon if you play with that stuff (LD). It’s Satanist.” end quote.
Here’s a little activity for you all:
try to explain to a southern baptist who watches televised church and Oprah all day the theory and practice of LD. They go nuts!
I think the funniest part of hearing people go nuts of LD’ing is the fact that those who think its Satanic usualy don’t have any good reasons. To them it just is. I hate it when people do that.
I have no say in what you personally beleive, but I hope you realise that LD’s aren’t Satanic. They’re more or less just your thoughts.
It humors me how close minded some people have to be, and to bad name to it like that is a shame. I told my sister and my mom about lucid dreaming. My sisters response " have you been smoking too much pot lately?" Mom’s response, " i prefer to get my rest when im asleep", as if ld’ing wears your body down anymore than regular dreaming.
That’s funny though Ysim. It reminds me of “The Waterboy” with adam sandler.
His mom said anything that she wasnt use to was the devil.
Jeeeeze !! its like…jeeze…Open up your spiritual side — oh wait, you can’t because choose to limit and contain yourself to what others (and religion) call “normal” … — you cannot even explain Why you’re on earth, how you got there, you cannot even fully explain who you are in terms of the non physical sense, and yet you say that spiritual exploration – or not necessairly spiritual, but just Discovery of further consciousness of one’s self… is “satanic” !!!
I’ve told two people about Lucid Dreaming who didn’t know about it, and they showed no interest at all, it’s understandable I just thought considering how amazed I was by lucid dreaming that nearly everyone else would be as eager as me.
Don’t worry about them. I am a Christian who would never do anything Satanic without putting up a BIG fight, everyone knows me for it too. I practice Lucid dreaming. I am sorry they were that judgemental, but who is the one who has to go through nightmares and uncontrollable images that could scare them? You see, it is her who is missing out, because she has to go through all of that. She has probly never experianced some of the wonderful things that we can experiance as often as we want to(with practice). Has she ever flown across a landscape, while being fully aware of it and experiancing the thrill? I would ignore her, she has no clue what you are doing, and just pretends that she does. Keep Dreaming!
The only way a demon can take over your soul is if you allow it to, Lucid Dreaming is just like reg. Dreaming only you know you are dreaming, and if dreaming is a sin then that means that there are 6 billion people on this earth that’s in trouble because we all dream, there was even people who dreamed in the bible and knew that they were dreaming.
My dad thought the same thing to when I first told him about LDing, but since he’s taken a few psychology courses it was much easier to explain it to him. I brought up LaBerge’s book, and a few older pieces of evidence, and he seemed to be more confident of it since information had been around for so long.
I’m not sure what my dad will take dreaming more seriously or simply see it as another useful thing to know.
First, I think the bible (at least the new testament) is not better than the Necronomicon. Second, I think there’s nothing strange, weird or wrong with LDing as long as you see it as a hobby, an intererst, a cool thing or even something that is a big part of your life. But I find all this spiritual things that most people connect with LDing a little weird and I thought LDing is a good way to experience something awesome without believing in Bhakti Yoga, yet still people that become LDers soon become spiritual.
A swift roundhouse kick to the face should take care of that nicely.
Really though, there was a post in the cloud, posted by a then new, Christian member, asking other Christian members if the practice of lucid dreaming could be an acceptable part of a Christian lifestyle, and the best awnser I saw on there was-
God gave you dreaming, right?
God gave you awareness, right?
What could possibly be sinful about combining the two?
Maybe lucid dreaming is less spiritual than you would like to admit…
Gotcha with your own sentence. I can’t admit something that I don’t believe in. Come on. LDs are a scientific fact. “you suffer in life all time, your human body is cursed with suffering throughout your life, you can travel through all universe if you buy great vegetarian dishes from his divine grace a.b.c. danone karl bla” is another cup of tea. I like that stuff that goes in this direction, too, but I can’t really bring myself to believe in it, because I’m trying to look realistic at it. I enjoy reading about Astral Projection, or people’s beliefs in spirituality. I also enjoy Tools spiritual lyrics. But I wouldn’t connect dreaming with it.
If She will believe that lucid dreaming has anything at all to do with your Soul then state that it would clearly be beneficial since you would get more in touch with it. Get to know it better. And would therefore be MORE able to protect it from demons that if you didn’t practice this.
Astral projection would be to experience bein your soul without the body wich you might say is an impurity and distraction and so AP would be much more valuable than going to church as i see it.
Maybe these thoughts can get you somewhere.
lol, the funny thing is, I’m his girlfriend. And since this is my mother we’re all talking about, I feel the need to put in my 2 cents. So…here we go.
You are all absolutly correct. My mother has to be the most closed-minded individual I have ever come into contact with. You can ask Steve (Anastasio). I am on my fourth copy of EWLD because everytime she sees that I have encountered a copy of the book or anything similar in nature, she throws it away. She searches my room constantly, and anything she finds on spiritualism, meditation, lucid dreaming, magic, energy, auras, even HARRY POTTER! I’ve just resorted to buying a safe and locking all my important things, like my dream journal, inside of it.
shakes head If only there were some way to reach her, but by now, I’ve given up. Guess you really can’t teach an old dog new tricks, huh?
