I was trying to get a LD tonight with the use of several techniques (MILD, WILD, SunEye). After a while I noticed that my legs got heavy and numb. After a while the same happened to my arms and the rest of my body. I also felt random shocks/vibrations in my legs.
But, I just couldn’t fall asleep. I didn’t yawn at all. After a while I could see some random shapes and stuff and my eyes really moved quite a lot. But then they opened, as if they were forced to open. They just shook a lot and it automatically opened my eyes. I was still fully awake. I could still move my arms and legs, but they were kind of numb, and I couldn’t feel with my fingers. Is that what that sleep paralysis is? Or is it cramp? After all, I did lay down there for 30 minutes (though it didn’t feel long, time sure passes quickly).
I tried again. I got numb and heavy again, and I could hear everything clearer, which is quite funny… When the cat scratched the door on the other end of the hallway (I checked what the noise was) I just opened my eyes because the noise was so loud.
I wasn’t falling asleep this way. So after an hour I decided to just go to sleep.
I got into my normal sleeping position, but I felt so extremely cold. I thought like, “Am I even doing this the correct way?”, it truly felt as if it was winter.
What is this? Cramp, a lack of bloodflow, or sleep paralysis?
Oh, and in the end, I could remember an itsy bitsy non lucid dream about a boot loader for my pc.
No, this is not sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is something close to being asleep. Sometimes you even are dreaming at the same time. You can’t move anything and you feel very uncomfortable. You don’t have faith to carry on. You have the urge to move, but you have to wait a few seconds. If you do it too soon, your dream body will move and you fall asleep or get lucid. If you waited, you can move and you’re awake. I had this state so often and never did an LD. Maybe it’s just my way of sleep paralysis, but I think that’s exactly what it is. I experienced it even before I knew this website (I think because of sleep problems).
The numbness is the first step into SP, you have to stay calm and let it happen. Stay relaxed. I don’t know about the eye movement and the coldness, but as far as I know the coldness is not very common?
Joshiii_Kun, I am currently experimenting with WILD and I have experienced the same as you.
The numbness is good, it means your getting closer. I also have problems with my eyes opening. I get to a point where I completely relax my muscles and that tends to make my eyes open slightly. I also become sensitive to sounds.
About the vibrations, this is very normal. Many people have them. I get them very intensly all throughout my body, and the trick is to not let it accelerate your heart rate so that you can stay calm.
I have not had a lucid dream yet, but when I decide I have lost my concentration I just go to sleep. Though, I do not get cold, I don’t know why you became so cold.
Numbness is what is expected when WILD’ing. Cold is less common but it happened to me sometimes. Some others said they felt too hot while WILD’ing. Hot seems curious, cold is more understandable cause your body temperature decreases when you’re asleep.
