so this was a while back in my third LD i think and i was/am still trying to stabilise my LD or get layer 4. anyway in my other dream i became lucid and was in my room. i tried stabilising the dream by looking at my hands but i dont think that helped very much. then i had a crazy idea to sprint really fast around my house because i thought that would stabilise dreams as well (i read later on that it does apparently). any point is that neither of them stabilised and i was slipping back to ND–i didnt exactly realise it during my dream tho. so i WOULD’VE kept dreaming normally but i still had maybe layer 1 LD and was still lucid. the weird part is this: i remember blinking in my dream involuntarily really hard and i woke up thinking “what just happened?” and it took me a while to remember that i blinked in my dream. has anyone done any involuntary things in their dream and woken up/how can this be stopped in the future?
alsooooo stabilising: how come the two things didnt work? should i try spinning next time or “clarity now!” because those ones seem more reliable according to other people.

I have similar problems sometimes. I wake up when I blink, but it only happens, if the dream is unstable. When you stabilize your dream you won’t wake up so easily.
If you ask me about stabilizing a dream… I haven’t tried the majority of the techniques, but I heard that spinning is one of the most effective. On the other hand, you tried other very effective techniques without results, so I don’t know what to think about it. I can only say that my dreams become more stable, when I concentrate on an object or action I’m performing. The other thing is that more lucid dreams means more stable LDs.
