Please help - was I close to WILD?

About 50 minutes ago I went to bed and tried WILD. I was unsure if it would work since it was 2:30 pm in the afternoon.

I closed my eyes and got comfortable and then tried visualising. I watched some bouncy HI colours and geometric shapes under my eyelids for about 5 minutes and saw short-lived unclear flashes of objects and such. Every time the more vivid flashes occurred, something would click in my mind and I got “too” conscious again and all I saw basic HI.

I decided to let my guard down and only watch it. Then I fell asleep for around 5 minutes. I’m unsure if I was dreaming or if it was light sleep, but I’m sure there was some HI involved.

When I woke up I recovered alright, not waking up fully, and within 2 minutes my arms were feeling fuzzy and sort of numb. I heard a faint ringing in my ears. I knew SP was coming soon, but I felt too conscious, so I tried to relax.

Within 1 minute of relaxing, my heart rate had surged. Literally, I could feel every beat of my heart through the bed. I knew I wasn’t dreaming because this has happened before too.

Is the onset of SP marked by increased heart rate? Seriously, my heart was pumping so loud it was like I had ran a marathon.

Due to my heart beat I was unable get into SP and then the phone rang. I knew I wasn’t going to enter SP anyway, with my heart rate and all.

Was I doing something wrong?

Had I already slept enough? I had gotten 8 hours full rest the night before.

Should I have done anything extra? I tried to focus or watch my HI, but it made me too “aware”.

Note: I have never successfully done WILD or had SP before.

Thanks so much, Ethan.

I have never felt my heart rate increase when I have done WILD. Probably, what happened was that you got a little too excited and this caused your heart to pound. Of course having the phone ring definitely ruins things too.

Be patient and try again. Remeber to relax, watch the HI before you, but do not "concentrate"on them. Let the images appear on their own and watch them form.

Don’t be hard on yourself if you don’t get it at the first or second try. You WILL be successful!

Good Luck

I’ve had the heart rate thing a couple times and I’m almost sure I was really close. Although the times I have WILD’ed succesfully I didn’t have this. I think the trick is to try and ignore your heart rate and your body and just focus on the HI. Easy to say, I know. It’s hard to ignore you heart when it seems like it’s about to explode.

As people say, you should passively observe HI. That includes, I think, trying to get them into focus. I noticed once that when I saw something out of focus and tried to focus it would dissapear. Just let it come into focus by itself. Again, easy to say! … maybe this is just with me, I don’t know…

Good luck!
