Question about WILD.

Ok, i havent even began trying WILD yet. But i got a question that dosent seem to be answerd in the guides.

So, after i wake up in the middle of the night, and then begin releaxing, am i supposed to CLOSE or keep my eyes open?

And right after i wake up, am i supposed to wait like 10-15 min before i releax and go into SP?

Well, I would recommend to open your eyes when you wake up, because otherwise you probably fall back a sleep immediately and don’t become aware enough.

Besides that, I would recommend trying WILD as first technique, because the success rate from beginners is rather low compared to other techniques. It’s best to take things slow and learn step by step:

  • learn to remember your dreams and keep a dream journal
  • learn your sleep cycle to know when is the best time to set an alarm for WBTB (during a REM cycle)
  • learn your common dream signs and learn to do a RC each time you see one
  • do a couple of RC’s during the say (nose pinching and then trying to breath works like a charm for most)
  • try MILD when going to bed
  • Learn about how to stabilize a LD, so you don’t wake up immediately the first times you get lucid. (relax, rubbing hands, using your senses, etc)

It may take a little longer, but sometimes it’s better to take things slow.

Thanks for all the help, but the eye question. A part of WILD is after you woken up. You then lie on your back at the bed to enter SP, but am i supposed to keep my eyes open or?

You must try both. Dream stuff is very personal, so you should experiment.
If you keep your eyes closed and go back to REM sleep WHILE keeping yourself conscious, you might experience what is called chaining: when you continue your last dream (I guess you still need to recall your last dream).

If you find it hard to keep eyes closed/opened, you wont get relaxed. If you feel your eyes opening, you can stay up and get some awareness instead.

If you found it interesting, check some chaining topics, and if the eyelids doesn’t close, check this tread:

After awakening, mostly eyes open: to go to bathroom etc. and to get aware.
While you’re actually doing the WILD, you should have you’re eyes closed (unless what you see is so boring, you will go to SP .

Thank you so much

I do my WILD attemps with my eyes closed, because you are supposed to fall asleep (not losing consciousness ofc) which tends to work best when your eyes are closed . However, after you wake up you should open your eyes at least for a few minutes to not fall instantly asleep and lose consciousness. That helps to stay aware during the WILD technique.

Also try not to focuss on anything that’s supposed to happen in between waking and dreaming. It’s all not important and you only have to ignore it if it happens. If you’re actively waiting for vibrations or SP than you won’t fall asleep at all or you wont get any further. Also it’s personal what you will experience. Personally I’ve successfully done WILD, but never saw any HI or felt SP at all.

Ok, so after i wake up, i hold my eyes up for some time, and then start SP?

Yes, after you feel awake enough not to fall asleep instantly, you can try WILD’ing. Close your eyes (have them open if that works better for you), relax and let your body fall asleep. Make sure you don’t lose consciousness, but don’t concentrate too hard, try to relax. After HI, HS, SP you should see the dream starting to form. When it’s clear enough, you should try interacting with it. If everything works out well, you should then have a nice LD.

i’m just butting this in here, but OMG, three Lithuanians in one thread… beware… a black hole might open and the world could implode or something

i could also give some useful WILD tips, but it seems like everyone already did all the good work, so…

so i can only add that… WILD usually happens when you’re least expecting it. when you wait for SP, please don’t expect it, don’t keep checking your limbs and body. just forget your body completely. concentrate on something, if you see HI - good, if you don’t - just concentrate on the blackness. WILD is kind of like meditation in this sense.
