School/being busy and Dream Recall

So I’v found that school, particularily how I have to wake up to an alarm early in the morning, is quite detrimental to my dream recall. On weekends where I can get enough sleep it is fine. I think it may be the rude call of my alarm clock that disturbs me too much upon awakening. Anyhow, what are your experiences about being in similar situations? Any tips on how to keep recall up would be appreciated!

Yes, I’m just like you
It was too hard for me to write all my dreams down in one time, and the morning, I couldn’t remember more than one dream, or part of it. It was very disturbing, but I realized that if I was keeping my DJ updated, when I was writing down, the dreams were coming back
If you can stop your alarm from your bed, just keep your eyes closed, stop the alarm, and think about what you dreamt (this helped me a lot the first times). Sometimes, my dreams come back very easily if I do this.
But I think that the best way to have a good dream recall is to train it writing down a DJ. Do it a few times, it’ll become easier and easier.
Hope it helped.

I have the same problem. Every time my alarm clock wakes me up I have no dream recall in the morning or I remember just a fragment. But after a week of full sleep and getting up without an alarm clock (during holidays) on school days I had more recall than usual. It’s because my dream was updated much during the holidays and after them I’ve been getting up naturally during the night after my REM sleep cycles. So my advice would be take care of your dream journal (read it sometimes during the day and think of meaning of your dreams). It will give a signal to your SC that you want to remember your dreams. And before sleeping just repeat mantra in your mind. Something like “I will remember my dreams” or “I will wake up after every dream” should work.

During this week my dream recall regressed very much. I remember only fragments. On sunday I remebered about 5 dreams during a single night. And on monday when I had to get up early I remembered only a fragment. So is it necessary to have much sleep or is there any way to have good dream recall with little sleep?

Well in my case, I wakeup weekdays to goto work at 5:50am. I goto bed at 9:00pm everynight (weekends as well) and don’t have major issues with dream recall. Often, I actually end up waking up before the alarm straight out of the dream! (On average looking through my journal, this usually happens just after 4:00am)

If it helps, I take two capsules of Valerian Root (1000mg total) with pure orange juice about 1 hour before bed.
