SP sensation?

So this morning when I woke up from my alarm I decided to have a go at WILD. And since I have given up on all “keep your mind busy with counting” and all that stuff and instead trying to learn to just stay, -aware- and not interfere too much with my mind I started to observe my breathing, my chest movements etc. This has got me a bit further than previous counting techniques ( Still effing hard to do though ).

But to the point, this morning I felt something I have never felt before. As I seemed to become “sucked in” by the darkness behind my eyelids I started to feel this weird pressure inside of my head, and it just kept getting worse, I thought my head was about to burst. And then I reached the critical point where I ALWAYS fail my WILD attempts, my heartbeat rate goes trough the roof and breathing become irregular. As this happens I just try to remain calm and relaxed and steady my breathing. But from here it always fade back to waking reality. :meh:

So my question, have anyone else experienced the head feeling? Could it be the start of SP? And why the hell can’t I get past the breathing/heart part? :grrr:

I’ve found this works a lot better for me too, I try to empty my mind of all the chatter and just watch.

Anyway, I’ve never had the head thing, but I’m sure I read some time ago someone had it too… I’ll see if I can find it, but it might be hard

I also fail a lot at the heart and breathing part  I think one thing that gets me a bit further is forgetting about it by focussing on something else, like visualizing. I start imagining with as much detail as possible some kind of scene. Don’t try to breathe or fix your breathing rate, that will just make it worse IMO. You have to let the SC take over breathing and the only way I get close to being able to just let go is by focusing on something else. (because thinking things like “ignore my breathing” is still focusing on it  )

EDIT: Ah, This is the topic I was thinking about. Not sure if it’s the same thing though…

Yeah that is what I thought aswell, that I simply need to find a way to ignore, but man, it is hard! And as you say, even TRYING to ignore it screws it up. I think I read somewhere that a good way to exit SP is to regulate your breathing, and I suppose that is what you are doing if you try to calm it down.

Thanks for the link! This sounds pretty much like it, not exactly what I felt but still the same thing I suppose. It didn’t bother me too much, but it got me rather interested in what it was.

Yeah, it’s very hard! Yeahm that’s it, I believe. You feel trouble breathing because your SC is taking over, so your conscious command to breathe starts having less effect, making you feel like you’re not breathing. When you force it, the SC notices that the conscious mind is awake and aborts SP. (this should be mentioned more often in Old Hag topics! :eh: )
