Is it possible to go directly from awake to lucid dreaming without trying to do so? I think it happened to me today, but I almost think I was already dreaming and thinking about lucid dreaming caused me to have one.
This morning I was lying in bed, after having set my alarm ten minutes forward(I enjoy falling asleep, so I set my alarm a few minutes forward after it goes off and fall asleep again, until I need to get ready for school)
I noticed that while I was lying there with my eyes close I felt like I was on a ship, rocking back and forth. While this was going on, I heard someone tell my sister to wake me up. I got mad, thinking someone was going to ruin the rocking feeling, which was really relaxing. It got more and more pronounced until I suddenly felt like I was being yanked backwards off the bed. I didn’t fall off, of course, but I was lying on my left side and felt like my whole body was being bulled to the right, and I was positive that at any second I would fall off. My vision was going backwards through a tunnel the same color as you see when you poke the corner of your eye(That purplish blotchy color), and I could hear air rushing past me like I was moving really fast. I started seeing images flash before my eyes, and I get it into my head that I need to think a trigger or something in order to initiate the dream. At this point I realize I’m about to have an LD. The first word that comes into my mind is “Flapjack”(As in the show, I’m not sure why that was the first.)
As soon as I say it, I’m suddenly transported to a very large, dark room with hardwood floor. In front of me was a large wall-screen, and I think Flapjack was playing on it, but now I’m not sure. This whole thing was weird, and I think at this point I could still feel my bed, but this part of the dream is hazy. I tried to think my way out of the room, because it was boring. Suddenly I’m in a hallway, and it leads into a kind of secret-agent base, but everyone is cartoon characters. The entire room looks like one of those video games during that time they overused cel-shading for comic book and cartoon appearances.
I got a mission, but I couldn’t understand what the guy giving it to me was saying, so I just nodded my head and moved on. There was a revolver on the table, so I grabbed that and walked out. At this point I’m still in video-game mode, I can even see a crosshair, and my vision is kind of a cross between moving my head to see and using a mouse.(My vision had its Y-axis inversed, which was really weird for a few seconds). I pulled out the revolver, but realized I wasn’t actually holding it, there was just a video-game version of my arm holding the revolver floating at the side of my vision, like a first-person-shooter. At this point I was getting very tired of being in a video game, so I decided to test my control of the dream. I formed my real(Dream) hand into a pistol and pointed it at stuff. My revolver was conveniently unequipped when I pulled out my handgun(lolpun), and I think I might have actually been able to shoot with it. I vaguely remember seeing some kind of green smoky projectile shoot out of my finger, but whatever it was(And if it even happened), it didn’t seem very cool, so I decided to move on.
I noticed a big moving-van-style truck about a hundred yards away, and generic mooks started coming out of it and trying to get me. Instead of shooting them with my handgun, I tried to use telekinesis, by moving my hands and concentrating. It wasn’t very effective, but I could lift them a few feet off the ground, pull them towards me, and even lift water out of puddles. I realized that I probably would need more practice to gain more control over my powers, adding some more infuriating video game parallels to the dream. The only other thing I did was punch the ground in an attempt to create some kind of shockwave attack, but all it did was cause a nearby puddle to freeze(That’s some kind of success, I suppose) At this point my alarm went off and I woke up.
Does that first part sound like WILD to you, or some other kind of lucid dream? Like I said, I’m not sure if I that first awake part wasn’t actually a dream, and my excitement at having a lucid dream didn’t cause me to become lucid.
As for the actual dream, I have some other questions. I did seem to have some powers in the dream, but they were all really weak. I could barely lift the mooks with telekinesis, and the best kind of throwing I could do was knock them down and drag them. I did seem to get a bit better over time, by the time the dream ended I could pull them pretty easily, but my powers still could barely be called super. My question is this: How do I control the things I do? In the dream I just gestured and concentrated, and while I had results, I couldn’t control them very well(Like the ice thing). I want to throw a fireball, for example, should I think fireball, or should I visualize myself throwing it, or think about fire, or something else?
Thanks.
