Spontaneous.

The other day, I had my fifth LD.

It was around 5:00 in the afternoon, and I was at my girlfriend’s house. We both fell asleep and had short little naps. I fell asleep straight into a dream.

In this dream, I was standing in a field with my friend Laura. The greens of the grass/trees were very vivid. The sun was shining. There were several stands around this field, with people lined up in front of each (I could not see this, but I knew it was there). Anyway, she and I were talking about dreaming. I was telling her that I wanted to help one of my best friends lucid dream. I cannot remember what she responded with. She began to do something with her fingers, and I suddenly got the strange feeling that I was dreaming. The conversation:

Me: I think I’m dreaming.
Laura: (disapproving) Why would you think that?
Me: I don’t know.
Laura: I doubt you’re dreaming.
Me: No, you just did something really weird with your fingers. You can’t do that. I know I’m dreaming.

As soon as what I said registered and I fully realised I was dreaming, I jumped up into waking life.

I must be a “natural” at LDing or something. I have never had a LD after trying to get one (although I rarely try to get them anyway). They’re always spontaneous. I usually have them when my thoughts are on anything but lucid dreaming. Is this common?

Thats the same as me. I dont do induction techniques and just randomly have one in a normal dream.

I think its a lot better that way because when you wake up your a lot happier that you had one, because it was a complete supprise.

I’m sure people like us are quite common who just have spontaneous LDs. I had one last night out of nowhere completely in the middle of a normal dream.

I find it funny that Dream Characters never want to believe that they are dreaming. And when you arnt lucid and you talk about lucid dreaming to a DC they try and trick you saying anything to make you believe its real life and not a dream.

Congrats on your 5th ld
