hi,
im reletively new to this site, but i’ve always really had lucid dreams, much less now that im older though…i’ve always found it easy, once lucid, to control myself within the dream, eg flying teleporting and all that kind of stuff, i can fly matrix style now…i definitely don’t have any trouble with that. one thing though that still deludes me is the ability to chose effect and change the envonment which im in. say i want to be somewhere in particular and i try to find it by going in the right direction. the envirinment always changes in ways that hinder me from reaching my destination. another thing i havn’t tried recently is to materialise objects or even whole environments from ‘thin air’…that would be fun!. but unfortunatley doing this purely by will hasn’t worked for me just yet.
a good example of the potential this ability would have is to materialise a tall building and to jump or fall and fly off it. i love to give myself a rush in dreams and push my own limits.
does anyone have any ideas, techniques or suggestions? it would be helpful for me , and im sure a lot of other people out there.
well, although i’ve never done it myself i’ve heard that a good way is to think of the environment that you want before going round a corner, or going through a door. i suppose this could also work with a dark tunnel… it would be interesting to know if this works for you
has anyone had experience doing that?? “think of the environment that you want before going round a corner, or going through a door” I’ve never done it in a dream before, but I’d really like to know if it works or not
Here, I haven’t said this in a while so it is about time to say it again:
When you have any problems in dreams, it is normally best to ask your dream characters what to do. For example: “How do I materialize objects?” or “How do I create a dreamscene?”. They normally describe a short “ritual” to me, such as a hand movement or a certain stance you have to be in. This is different for everyone, but if your DC says it will work, then it will.
thax heaps guys, these are all some interesting techniques i’ll try some of them tonight…hopefully i have an LD.
i’ll post any progress or experiences i have
Hi. I have trouble with the materialization thing too, but here’s something that worked in one of my recent lucid dreams. I walked up to somebody and casually asked him if I could use his teleporter, sorta with the same attitude as asking to use a phone… Like convincing the dream character that he has a teleporter by making it seem like a totally ordinary and everyday request. I’ve only done this once, but it worked well and got me exactly where I asked to go.
You might be able to use it for other things too… Like, “hey can I borrow your lightsabre for a second?”.
It might be that if a dream character believes something will work, then you don’t have to.
But I like the idea of forcing the “faith” of creation in LDs onto DCs. DCs do tend to be very maleable, and helpful. I have always asked for advice, but I guess now I can add to the list of “How to do stuff in an LD” the thought “ask a DC to do it for you”.
I didn’t mean it as a shared dreamworld type of thing… We’ve had that discussion before. But it’s obvious that dream characters are (somewhat) intelligent and independent, even if they’re just some sort of temporary split personality…
I agree with all the previous suggestions and i have an idea that may help with them:
When you are making these requests you need to believe that they will come true, if you get better at it you can pull things out of thin air like me. I have even teleported myself. If you’ve seen star wars, then its like Yoda. He has a strong belief that what he wills will come true. You need to as well.
Also, as with anything you want to do in a LD you can think about that topic or action intently before you go to sleep and there will be a higher chance that it will happen.
