Supernatural? Or was I hallucinating?

Yesterday I was watching a show called ‘Ghost Hunters’ in which people told their stories about their experinces with ghosts. I’m naturally skeptical and don’t actualy believe alot of what I hear on TV and the internet (especially the internet).

However, I do believe in ghosts over all. And not for the first time, I was upset that I had personally no experince with ghosts.

That night I couldn’t get to sleep (I got to sleep coming up to 5am - which is a bugger as I had school, and thus only got two hours of sleep).

Let go back a bit now. It’s about half 3am. I’m sitting in bed and reading (it is, after all, meant to cure isomnia), when I looked up and noticed something on my wall. It was a glowing blue circle about the size of a closed fist. I watched it with interest as it zip around on the wall and then disapear all together.

Not only that, but a number of times that night (I’d say three or four times) there’d be a sudden glow that would slightly light up a small patch of my bedroom. The light would only last around three two or three seconds before disapearing.

That light or circle could have come from no where else. I had no light source in my room, I heard no cars (and the lights weren’t positioned so it could be a car anyway).

A few times that night, I stoppped and listened to the silence. I could just make out what sounded like a slight murmuring or whispering. However, this may be because I was trying to hear something and thus simply imagined it.

One more thing (and something I consider to simply have been my imagination, but I shall add it anyway):

Twice, when I looked over the over end of my bed (which is actually close to the wall were I saw the blue circle thingy) and looked away, I could swear I saw something move (first time down out of sight, the second time down and right out of sight). The only reason I’m adding this, is because it was a pinky colour (skin colour of a white person) and I have nothing pink over in that direction for me to confuse it with.

So, what do all you guys think? I want to hear your opions before I make my mind up on what happened. Was it the lack of sleep that made me hallucinate (I’ll pint out here that I have never hallucitated in my life before - but the thigns I saw looked incredibly real)?

Thanks for the replis .

That sounds very strange :eh: But I would have to say that you where having some sort of hallucination because I can’t think of anything else that would explain it. When I get close to falling asleep I can even open my eyes and then see something strange IRL. Ex. I was sitting in a bus on the way home from school and I was very close to sleep and when I opened my eyes I saw a bowling pin on the seat in front of me

When I have stayed awake for a long time, i can see moving “shadows” in the edges of my field of vision. They go away if I try to look at them. Once, on a bus, I could see waterfalls where there shouldn’t be waterfalls on the way home. I had been awake for more than 24 hours then. And I enjoy watching the blue clouds on the wall right before I go to sleep  If it was hallucinations you were experiencing, it is a natural and harmless thing.

Hallucinations were the first thing that came to mind (which is why I wasn’t scared during any of it).

The only problem I can really find with that is that I was wide awake. It’s not unusal for me to be awake at 1 or 2am, so I’m more or less use to it.

I didn’t experince any of it after opening my eyes are JaRoD suggested. I simply looked up from my book I was reading and saw a blue circle on the wall .

Either way, it was certainly intersting to watch .

Stories about ghosts encounters upset me same way Sureal.Im allways wondering…“why it seems everyone on this planet gets to see them and im not”.
I also believe in it though im sceptic about the most known explanations. In my opinion its either something that we create ourselves(in stress or as a hallucination) or its just another form of energy we dont know how to measure/see/hear yet.
I want to see it!

sounds like what about saw on your wall was an orb. they are actually pretty common to see. you should research them. as for the sounds, you might have been hearing them in your head. since you were trying to hear something you probably created the whispering sound in your head and though you heard it. BUT, i am still open to the possibility that maybe you were hearing a ghost. It wouldn’t surprise me. It isn’t really all that rare to have experiences with ghosts and or spirits. Does any paranormal activity ever occur in your house?

Nope. As for orbs - aren’t they emant to be 3D? What I saw was 2D (like someone was shining a light on the wall)

Is it possible the light was generated by something in your room, like maybe a light on the monitor (if the PC is in your room?)

I’ve had a few experiences myself ranging from lights to voices to mild pre-cognition. My grandmother has had a few weird orb experiences and a rather odd dream where she felt it was more than a dream and had she done something would have died (IRL)

I think there is deffinately something beyond our relm of existance and sometimes they can have an effect on ours, be it sounds, lights, cold spots. I also believe that entities from these dimentions can communicate with us if they chose to and that with practice we can experience their relms through Astral Projection.

Then of course there’s the area of spirit and the place of light, ghostly apparitions are possible. There’s so many things it could have been even after ruling out the usual things like your eyesight, your sanity etc lol.

Lights and whispered voices are a good indication of paranormal activity (and madness apparently) orbs of course said to be the first stage of a ghost manifestation. There are several different types of orbs/light anomalies. The first type which is generally refered to as “orbs” would be small floating lights that move around, unfortunately things such as dust particles reflecting light, insects and similar can give the same effect under night vision cameras so few people (except believers) will accept them to be anything other than that.

The second type of light annomally are little lights that seem to flash on and off very quickly, they are usually about the size of a small LED light and don’t move just flash. These can be seen with the naked eye although are much less frequent than orbs.

There’s so many things it could be but it could be funny finding out.

I may post my experiences later but for now this post is way too long and you’ll all fall asleep before the end.

I think it was a hallucination, its common to see things while in complete dark.

Mystery

Well, there’s been nothing else like it and looking at the evidence, I’m gonna classify it as a hallucination .

And the same night, you saw ghosts… Hmmm… big coincidence, don’t you find ? I think you must have been influenced by the TV show.
Another possibility : a retina persistance phenomenum (you were reading, i.e. looking at a white page) + insomnia + TV influence, etc.

I didn’t see a ghost. I saw a blue, glowing cirle on a wall and impossible circles of lights.

The possibilty of it being ghosts didn’t even occur to me until the morning.

It can be useful if you know the exact date of this manifestation, It reminds me of something I read, glowing balls flying side to airplanes in second WW, called Foo fighters. It sure can be entity and not halucination.

It doesn’t mean this glow is dangerous in any way. I doubt that can be an interaction with matherial world in such way.

I had the same hallucinations when I was younger. Sometimes in the night, when I couldn’t sleep I saw little light balls in every colour of the rainbow. At that time I was a bit afraid because of that.

But now I’d like to have my little hallucinations back :gni:

It was the night before I made the post. Which makes is halloween night (ironic, no?).

Hmmm… Halloween night ? It could perhaps be blue pumpkins ?

aaaaaahhhhhhhhh the blue pumkins are attacking!

Mystery

How can you read with no source of light in the room?

Maybe this thing was just trying to stop you getting eyestrain.

He he ! Sherlock Holmes wouldn’t have done better !

I had one door open, with the light on in the room oposite. Which gave me just enough light to read the book (although had to guess around half the words - not to hard as I’d read the book before).

See, the light source wasn’t in the my room - it was outsded it .

However, this light was coming from the wrong direction and was the wrong sort of light to have caused either thingy. For the blue circle it would have had to have come from my window (which had the blind pulled fully down).

And the patches of light woud have had to have come from the ceiling.
