The cinema method

I thought of this as I was watching Transformers today  A pattern I notice in my dreams is that it’s easy to drift between watching a situation (like on a movie screen) and being in that situation. I thought, why not use that to one’s advantage?

It would start out as a normal dream. Do your chosen reality check and gain lucidity. Usually it’s a mundane or confusing situation you’re in, and you want to get out, but there’s lots of obstacles and distractions that keep you from accomplishing what you want/getting to your dream world.

Now here’s what I would try to do: Stare in one direction, and somehow “zoom out” until you find yourself watching your dream. You could be in your room watching it on TV, or alone in a movie theatre.

And if you don’t like it, change the channel! Or put in a video or DVD of a dream you do want to watch, or yell up to the movie-box to change the reel. If you like the new movie, watch it, and you can eventually drift into it so that you can experience it. If not, keep changing it until you do.

So this is just a thought, I haven’t tried it out yet. Maybe you will (or have)? Let me know if you have any success with this.

I actually have done this once…well a few times.

The time I rememeber most was when I was trying to reach Sky Island, I was riding a dragon (Lazer). The dragon wasn’t strong enough though, so I “zoomed out” until I was looking at a board game like scenario of what was happening. I played GM/God and gave the dragon more strength, then “zoomed in” again

Also once when summoning my SG, I zoomed out to an overhead 3rd person view as he split out of my back.

It definitely works so long as you don’t wake up or lose lucidity while “zooming”, but that doesn’t seem to pose a threat

Hey Hex. (I saw Transformers today as well. Optimus Prime kicked so much arse.)

That’s a great idea, shifting your perspective in a LD to change the setting. Reminds me of walking through the mirror as Qu would put it, but more accurate. I’ll have to give this a try.

You could also do this if your dream is really full of people and stuff which you can’t get rid of and you want to be alone. Simply zoom out and find yourself sitting alone in a cinema. And the outside world is also completely empty.

What a great idea! Sound like fun. You could also do things like zoom out into a cinema, and leave it to wander a empty, deserted city and do all sorts of fun things. :boogie:

That’s pretty much what I said?

:thud:

Oh, sorry.

I guess I got you’re post wrong and did not understand well what you said.

Better luck next time (for me). :content:

i HAVE to do this.

reminds me that one scene from Paprika. Actually more then one

What scene?

the one where he is watching his dreams in the movie theater and explaining some directing terminology

Nice. But, uh, what’s Paprika (next to a vegetable )?

n anime movie about Lucid Dreaming

i better make a relevent post

maybe you could also (like in the movie) get a whole line of movie theaters all playing different dreams and watch the one you want, and tehn either zoom into the dream or just go through the screen.

Have you got the English subtitles for this movie? I can’t find them.
