A particular verse from Nas’ “I Can”

[Nas]
Be, be, 'fore we came to this country
We were kings and queens, never porch monkeys
It was empires in Africa called Kush
Timbuktu, where every race came to get books
To learn from black teachers who taught Greeks and Romans
Asian Arabs and gave them gold when
Gold was converted to money it all changed
Money then became empowerment for Europeans
The Persian military invaded
They learned about the gold, the teachings and everything sacred
Africa was almost robbed naked
Slavery was money, so they began making slave ships
Egypt was the place that Alexander the Great went
He was so shocked at the mountains with black faces
Shot up they nose to impose what basically
Still goes on today, you see?
If the truth is told, the youth can grow
They learn to survive until they gain control
Nobody says you have to be gangstas, hoes
Read more learn more, change the globe
Ghetto children, do your thing
Hold your head up, little man, you’re a king
Young Prince thats when you get your wedding ring
Your man is saying “She’s my queen”

:music:

I’ll be posting the lyrics to the song, “Crazy on You” by Heart. Hmm, if you ask me, it much better if you’ve heard the song first - It’s also incredible! Reading the lyrics alone doesn’t seem to do it for me, but I figured I’d add something to this thread.

Of the lyrics alone, the part highlighted in dark blue is my favorite verse. :content:

Men at work - Down Under

Traveling in a fried-out combie
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said,

“Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover.”

Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said, “Do you speak-a my language?”
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said,

“I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover.”

Lying in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, “Are you trying to tempt me
Because I come from the land of plenty?”
And he said,

“Oh! Do you come from a land down under? (oh yeah yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover.”

The Playmates - Beep Beep

While riding in my Cadillac
What to my surprise
A little Nash Rambler was following me
About one third my size
The guy musta wanted to pass me out
As he kept on tooting his horn beep beep
I’ll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn
Beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep beep beep

(slowly)
I pushed my foot down to the floor
To give the guy the shake
But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind
He still had on his brake
He musta thought his car had more guts
As he kept on tooting his horn beep beep
I’ll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn
Beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep beep beep

(normal speed)
My car went into passing gear
And we took off with gust whoosh
Soon we were going ninety
Musta left him in the dust
When I peeked in the mirror of my car
I couldn’t believe my eyes
The little Nash Rambler was right behind
You’d think that guy could fly
Beep beep Beep beep beep beep Beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

(quickly)
Now we were doing a hundred and ten
This certainly was a race
For a Rambler to pass a Caddy
Would be a big disgrace
The guy musta wanted to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn
I’ll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn
Beep beep Beep beep beep beep Beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

(very quickly)
Now we’re going a hundred twenty
As fast as I can go
The Rambler pulled along side of me
As if we were going slow
The fella rolled down his window
And yelled for me to hear
“Hey buddy how can I get this car outa second gear?”

Poets of the Fall - Fire

It’s a bit like a trip, but you hit it with a slip of a tongue, like a whip, and we’re sinking, it ain’t cool to be cool, though you may think it a laudable tool of self evaluation, of ego cultivation, n’ I’m rolling my eyes like the stones for the lies, is it really all about the size or just a simple vice…

Oh, and it makes the news
Oh, cos it sings the blues

I feel the fire flare alight inside me
Higher so I can see
N’ aspire to survive this fight in spite of
Liars and travesty
Oh fire

Did you think that I’d blink, that I’d go and take the ink to your control, that I’d sell my soul, and does it ring any bells that it sells that we’re living out of shells in a shotgun, if we couldn’t shoot, we’d have to run, and finally the cerebral fantasy, better genes and machines, so we can die looking like we’re teens, like snapshot scenes in smithereens…

Oh, and the ones we choose
Oh, witch hunting fools

I feel the fire…

Look there it is in the news again, yeah
There it goes singing the blues again

Fire flare alight inside me…

Fire, return my joy cos I’m so
Tired, tired of me
Inspire the weary eyed to see the
Ire and Irony
Oh fire

Sorry Go 'Round - Poets of the fall (if I post another they’ll have to pay me for advertising )

The devil may smile with an angels face
A cat may be stolen of its grace
They say it’s just a matter of time and place

A man may be less than an animal
The antichrist write up the honor roll
The tightrope walker take the final fall (at his house, in the bathroom, on a holiday, and that’s in the news)

Oh, the things you see
Makes ignorance bliss for you and me, yeah,
When arrogance does publicity,
Smiling happily

It’s a merry go round and around and around

The begging boy becomes the begging man
The zealot never saves the sacrificial lamb
And a child want’s to know if the Candyman can

Everybody want’s the fancy car
And we’ve all been told not to run too far
But everybody wants to be a rock’n’roll star

Oh, the things you see
Makes arrogance seem the way to be, yeah,
When ignorance spreads conformity,
Smiling happily

It’s a merry go round and around and around

Just been listening to this one so I’ll share it.

Locking Up the Sun - Poets of the Fall (yes them again LOL)

They’re locking up the sun, the light of reason gone,
n’ hope has been succesfully undone
The question’s burning on, where is it coming from,
no-one seems to know the monster born

It’s a bad trip on a sinking ship, when no-one seems responsible
Scapegoat to rock the boat, yeah, we need someone expendable
Volunteers to face the fears, can we be sensible
And find a way to break the fall, find out the cure for all

Is there a hero somewhere, someone who appears and saves the day
Someone who holds out a hand and turns back time
Is there a hero somewhere, someone who will never walk away
Who doesn’t turn a blind eye to a crime

They’re locking up the sun, they have their chosen one,
you know this time they’ll make him play along
They’re taking to the arms, the fathers and their sons,
there’s nowhere left to run and hide

It’s a bad trip on a sinking ship, when no-one seems responsible
Scapegoat to rock the boat, yeah, we need someone expendable
Volunteers to face the fears, can we be sensible
And find a way to break the fall, find out the cure for all

Is there a hero somewhere, someone who appears and saves the day
Someone who holds out a hand and turns back time
Is there a hero somewhere, someone who will never walk away
Who doesn’t turn a blind eye to a crime

And in the emptiness, there’s a solution,
just look within yourself for absolution

… and now some music that’s just made for 6.30 am in the morning just before going to bed

Blue Side of Lonesome – George Jones

I’m calling to tell you it’s over
Yes Darling, you’re now free to go
You’re saying you’re sorry you hurt me
But you can’t hurt me no more, I know.

You’re asking me where this call comes from
Oh, I hope that it won’t interfere
If your new romance turns out a failure
Well, here’s where to find me my dear.

I’m just on the blue side of lonesome
Right next to the heartbreak hotel
In a tavern that’s known as Three Tear Drops
On a bar stool not doin’ so well.

The floor has a carpet of sorrow
But no one can weep in the aisle
And they say someone broke the bar mirror
With only the ghost of a smile.

The hands on the clock never alter
For things never change in the place
There’s no present, no past, no future
We’re the ones who have lost in lifes race.

I’m just on the blue side of lonesome
Right next to the heartbreak hotel
In a tavern that’s known as Three Tear Drops
On a bar stool not doin’ so well…

He’ll Have To Go Lyrics – Jim Reeves

Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone.
Let’s pretend that we’re together, all alone.
I’ll tell the man to turn the juke box way down low,
And you can tell your friend there with you he’ll have to go.
Whisper to me, tell me do you love me true,
Or is he holding you the way I do?
Tho’ love is blind, make up your mind, I’ve got to know,
Should I hang up, or will you tell him he’ll have to go?
You can’t say the words I want to hear
While you’re with another man,
If you want me, answer “yes” or “no,”
Darling, I will understand.
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone.
Let’s pretend that we’re together, all alone.
I’ll tell the man to turn the juke box way down low,
And you can tell your friend there with you he’ll have to go.

“Red Sector A”

All that we can do is just survive
All that we can do to help ourselves is stay alive

Ragged lines of ragged grey
Skeletons, they shuffle away
Shouting guards and smoking guns
Will cut down the unlucky ones

I clutch the wire fence until my fingers bleed
A wound that will not heal
A heart that cannot feel
Hoping that the horror will recede
Hoping that tomorrow we’ll all be freed

Sickness to insanity
Prayer to profanity
Days and weeks and months go by
Don’t feel the hunger
Too weak to cry

I hear the sound of gunfire at the prison gate
Are the liberators here?
Do I hope or do I fear?
For my father and my brother, it’s too late
But I must help my mother stand up straight

Are we the last ones left alive?
Are we the only human beings to survive?

size=167 Riders In The Sky - Johnny Cash

An old cowpoke went ridin’ out one dark and windy day,
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw
Come rushin’ through the ragged skies and up a cloudy draw.

Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath you could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
He saw the riders coming hard… and he heard their mournful cry

Yipie i oh Yipie i ay
Ghost riders in the sky.

Their face is gaunt their eyes were blurred their shirts all soaked
With sweat
They’re ridin’ hard to catch that herd but they 'aint caught 'em yet
'cause they’ve got to ride forever in the range up in the sky
On horses snorting fire as they ride hard hear them cry

The riders leaned on by him he heard one call his name
If you want to save your soul from hell a riding on our range
Then cow - boy change your ways today or with us you will ride
Tryin’ to catch this devil herd… a - cross these endless
Skies.

Yipie i oh Yipie i ay
Ghost riders in the sky.
Ghost riders in the sky.
Ghost riders in the sky.

Johnny Remember Me - John Leyton

When the mist’s a-rising
And the rain is falling
And the wind is blowing cold across the moor
I hear the voice of my darlin’
The girl I loved and lost a year ago

(Johnny remember me)

Well it’s hard to believe I know
But I hear her singing in the sighing of the wind
Blowin’ in the tree tops way above me

(Johnny remember me)

Yes I’ll always remember
Till the day I die
I’ll hear her cry
Johnny remember me

Well some day I guess
I’ll find myself another little girl
To take the place of my true love
But as long as I live I know
I’ll hear her singing in the sighing of the wind
Blowin’ in the tree tops way above me

(Johnny remember me)

Yes I’ll always remember
Till the day I die
I’ll hear her cry
Johnny remember me

(Johnny remember me)

THE YEAR 2525 (EXORDIUM & TERMINUS) - Zager & Evans

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find

In the year 3535
Ain’t gonna need to tell the truth
Tell no lies
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today

In the year 4545
Ain’t gonna need your teeth
Won’t need your eyes
You won’t find a thing to chew
Nobody’s gonna look at you

In the year 5555
Your arms are hanging limp at your side
You legs got nothing to do
Some machine’s doing that for you

In the year 6565
Ain’t gonna need no husband
Won’t need no wife
You’ll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long glass tube
Whoa-oh-oh

In the year 7510
If God’s a-coming
He ought to make it by then
Maybe he’ll look around himself and say
Guess it’s time for the Judgement Day

In the year 8510
God is gonna shake his mighty head
He’ll either say, I’m pleased where man has been
Or tear it down and start again
Whoa-oh-oh

In the year 9595
I’m kinda wondering
If man is gonna be alive
He’s taken everything this old Earth can give
And he ain’t put back nothing
Whoa-oh-oh

Now it’s been ten thousand years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what he never knew
Now man’s reign is through
But through eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
Maybe it’s only yesterday

In the year 2525,
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find

In the year 3535
Ain’t gonna need to tell the truth

Iron Helix, By Mr. Lif feat Insight

[Insight]

The sun has risen, as it glistens

through the trees like a prism

I listen to the earth’s rhythm

the wind speaks to my instinct

with the earth I’m in sync

sharpening the blade of a spade

with the heart of a lion

in combat, though I’m real slick

the salt in the water help my scars heal quick

cause see I mastered survival tactics

and lasted weeks without sleep

hunting for prey and white rabbits

(Mr. Lif)

(rather primitive) Who’s that?

(I’m stats, DATs, money stacks, tax) Which language is that?

(identity with a little tyranny)

But I don’t need chaos, I have peace and serenity

(you won’t find hell in me

see psychoanalysts for therapy

come prosper and live plentily)

my existence is heavenly

(you were meant to be greater)

allow me to pray to my creator

(nigga you are the maker, life giver and taka’

take control, you should feel safer)

but I don’t even feel threatened

(you need weapons and apparently a classroom so you can learn lessons)

[scratching] “don’t let them fool ya”

[scratching] “I’m here to school ya”

[scratching] “you need knowledge?”

[scratching] “open your eyes”

your terminal is senseless

(I’m rational and actual, here

let me send a fax to you)

but what is a fax?

(ahh, curiosity killed the cats’s

swimming pool and mattress, bust a book of matches

credit cards and debit cards)

checks, cars, incredible odds, devil gods, laws

federal generals headed for Mars with medical cards

fixing Mother Nature’s technical flaws

(see you learn quickly, now you’re with me

move foward and never look back at history

focus on your omnipotence, teach your infants this

kiss the barcode on your wrist)

all six senses are on point

(telekinetics?) naw, I didn’t forget it

utilizing earth, I can mold dirt into flesh, summoning

sandstorms, on the highest mountain I stand on

I make the sky cry fire rock then ice will drop

its wind spin, your spirit and soul ascends then

(now you can blend in, lets hit the city streets

so we can get your feet accustomed to concrete

build a strong fleet of soldiers

tell them what I told ya

we’ll chill on the moon when we’re older

and thank God that this Earth life is over

devour the sun and make the universe colder)

extol the master, spinning planets around my aura

like an orbit, set a mountain on shore twist my fingers

and force this into a tornado, raw fatal

I make grain flow, draining clouds into a rainbow

I master math, infused bionics with biology

police carry shotguns inside a robotic knee

the impact of my psychology can atomically wipe out

and devastate as soon as I meditate

(so why don’t you demonstrate?) I think that I might

drop a bomb on Nagasaki just because it’s in sight

(you’ve arrived) leave the world (brutalize) sacrifice

(human lives) take flight (to fight) attack tribes

(this will be the legacy of you and I)

who’s you? it’s just I

ALL OPPOSITION MUST DIE!!

No Regrets, By Aesop Rock

Lucy was 7 and wore a head of blue barrettes
City born, into this world with no knowledge and no regrets
Had a piece of yellow chalk with which she’d draw upon the
street
The many faces of the various locals that she would meet
There was Joshua, age 10
Bully of the block
Who always took her milk money at the morning bus stop
There was Mrs. Crabtree, and her poodle
She always gave a wave and holler on her weekly trip down to the
bingo parlor
And she drew
Men, women, kids, sunsets, clouds
And she drew
Skyscrapers, fruit stands, cities, towns
Always said hello to passers-by
They’d ask her why she passed her time
Attachin lines to concrete
But she would only smile
Now all the other children living in or near her building
Ran around like tyrants, soaking up the open fire hydrants
They would say
‘Hey little Lucy, wanna come jump double dutch?’
Lucy would pause, look, grin and say
‘I’m busy, thank you much’
Well, well, one year passed
And believe it or not
She covered every last inch of the entire sidewalk,
And she stopped-
‘Lucy, after all this, you’re just giving in today??’
She said:
‘I’m not giving in, I’m finished,’ and walked away

(Chorus: x2)
1 2 3
That’s the speed of the seed
A B C
That’s the speed of the need
You can dream a little dream
Or you can live a little dream
I’d rather live it
Cuz dreamers always chase
But never get it

Now Lucy was 37, and introverted somewhat
Basement apartment in the same building she grew up in
She traded in her blue barrette for long locks held up with a
clip
Traded in her yellow chalk for charcoal sticks
And she drew
Little bobby who would come to sweep the porch
And she drew
The mailman, delivered everyday at 4
Lucy had very little contact with the folks outside her cubicle
day
But she found it suitable, and she liked it that way
She had a man now: Rico, similar, hermit
They would only see each other once or twice a week on purpose
They appreciated space and Rico was an artist too
So they’d connect on saturdays to share the pictures that they
drew
(Look!)
Now every month or so, she’d get a knock upon the front door
Just one of the neighbors,
Actin nice, although she was a strange girl, really
Say, ‘Lucy, wanna join me for some lunch??’
Lucy would smile and say ‘I’m busy, thank you much’
And they would make a weird face the second the door shut
And run and tell their friends how truly crazy Lucy was
And lucy knew what people thought but didn’t care
Cuz while they spread their rumors through the street
She’d paint another masterpiece

(Chorus x2)

Lucy was 87, upon her death bed
At the senior home, where she had previously checked in
Traded in the locks and clips for a head rest
Traded in the charcoal sticks for arthritis, it had to happen
And she drew no more, just sat and watched the dawn
Had a television in the room that she’d never turned on
Lucy pinned up a life worth’s of pictures on the wall
And sat and smiled, looked each one over, just to laugh at it
all
No Rico, he had passed, ‘bout 5 years back
So the visiting hours pulled in a big flock o’ nothin
She’d never spoken once throughout the spanning of her life
Until the day she leaned forward, grinned and pulled the nurse
aside
And she said:
‘Look, I’ve never had a dream in my life
Because a dream is what you wanna do, but still haven’t pursued
I knew what I wanted and did it till it was done
So I’ve been the dream that I wanted to be since day one!’
Well!
The nurse jumped back,
She’d never heard Lucy even talk,
'Specially words like that
She walked over to the door, and pulled it closed behind
Then Lucy blew a kiss to each one of her pictures
And she died.

(Chorus x2)

A Sight To Behold, By Devendra Banhart

It’s a sight to behold
When you got small words to mold
And you can make 'em your own

Still love it would be much better
Love it would be much better
I’m told

It’s like golden corn
And i love its golden glow
It’s the little head inside your little hole
And out spring some sparkling thoughts

Still love it would be much better
Love it would be much better
Love it would be much better
Love it would be much better

It’s like finding home
In an old folk song
That you’ve never ever heard
Still you know every word
And for sure you can sing along

But love it would be much better
Love it would be much better
Love it would be much better
Love it would be much better
I know, i know

Awesome! Awesome stuff, Day!

Mr. Lif and Insight are so totally cool!

Have you heard the music or are you just reffering to the lyrics I posted?

Foreigner - Hot Blooded

Well, I’m hot blooded, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I’m hot blooded, I’m hot blooded

You don’t have to read my mind, to know what I have in mind
Honey you oughta know
Now you move so fine, let me lay it on the line
I wanna know what you’re doin’ after the show

Now it’s up to you, we can make a secret rendezvous
Just me and you, I’ll show you lovin’ like you never knew

That’s why, I’m hot blooded, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I’m hot blooded, hot blooded

If it feels alright, maybe you can stay all night
Shall I leave you my key?
But you’ve got to give me a sign, come on girl, some kind of sign
Tell me, are you hot mama? you sure look that way to me

Are you old enough? will you be ready when I call you bluff?
Is my timing right? did you save your love for me tonight?

Yeah I’m hot blooded, check it and see
Feel the fever burning inside of me
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I’m hot blooded, I’m hot blooded, I’m hot

Now it’s up to you, can we make a secret rendezvous?
Oh, before we do, you’ll have to get away from you know who

Well, I’m hot blooded, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I’m hot blooded, I’m hot blooded

Hot blooded, every night
Hot blooded, you’re looking so tight
Hot blooded, now you’re driving me wild
Hot blooded, I’m so hot for you, child
Hot blooded, I’m a little bit high
Hot blooded, you’re a little bit shy
Hot blooded, you’re making me sing
Hot blooded, for your sweet sweet thing

eek double post. But it’s been a while don’t kill meh moogey!

My child arrived just the other day
Came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
He was talkin fore I knew it
And as he grew he said,
Im gonna be like you, dad,
You know Im gonna be like you.

And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
when you comin home?
son, I dont know when. well get together then.
You know well have a good time then.

Well, my son turned ten just the other day.
He said, thanks for the ball, dad. come on, lets play.
Could you teach me to throw?
I said, not today. I got a lot to do.
He said, thats okay. and he walked away and he smiled and he said,
you know, Im gonna be like him, yeah.
You know Im gonna be like him.

And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
when you comin home?
son, I dont know when. well get together then.
You know well have a good time then.

Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
Im proud of you. could you sit for a while?
He shook his head and he said with a smile,
what Id really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. can I have them please ?

And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
when you comin home?
son, I dont know when. well get together then.
You know well have a good time then.

Ive long since retired, my sons moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
Id like to see you, if you dont mind.
He said, Id love to, dad, if I could find the time.
You see my new jobs a hassle and the kids have the flu,
But its sure nice talkin to you, dad.
Its been sure nice talkin to you.
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me,
Hed grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.

And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
when you comin home?
son, I dont know when. well get together then.
You know well have a good time then.

Mmmmm… Great Pagan themed songs

All the devil’s Men

All the Devil’s Men
In Christ’s name they do their evil
All the Devil’s Men
Still mad and medieval
With their swords and with their guns
And poisoned words upon their tongues
All the Devil’s Men
Hear the children scream
For they shall teach them Christian values
Put monsters in their dreams
And subject them to pain and torment
With their straps and with their canes
They shall teach them fear and shame
All the Devil’s Men
If they can’t burn you at the stake
Then your children they will take
Will the malice of their lies
They are here to defile
To destroy all our lives
What they do, they do for Christ
And we are all the victims
Every man, woman and child
All the Devil’s Men
Their twin gods are Christ and Satan
All the Devil’s Men
Hide your babes for they shall take them
With the law upon their side
They bring death and genocide
All the Devil’s Men
By the sword and by the lash
They will break you, they will take you
In the shadow of their cross
Lie the victims of their tortures
In the churches and the schools
They still take us for their fools
All the Devil’s Men
All the Devil’s Men
Clutching to their dying empire
All the Devil’s Men
Clutching at their blood-stained bibles
Their final days have come at last
And they shall fade into the past
All the Devil’s Men!

Dancing, jumping, laughing, raving
Driven by a sexual craving
Here they come with love and flowers
With their songs and their dark powers
Bodies naked, hot and writhing
Belladonna wine embibing
Here they come datura dreaming
Out their minds in madness screaming
Wild spirits from the dreamworld
Nature spirits from the dreamworld
With the Nymphs you are free
In the fire of ecstasy
In a dream of sexual love
In Hell below and Heaven above
Boy meets nymph the sacred story
Told again for all it’s glory
She’s so wild, he can’t tame her
Sex and drugs, who can blame her
He’s the fingers, she’s the matches
She’s the fire, he’ll be the ashes
He is hers for the taking
Love is hers for the faking
Forget the future come and kiss
On the Poison Lips of Bliss
Let them sing you to your death
Let them sing you to your death

No Matter What Lyrics - Boyzone

Chorus:
No matter what they tell us
No matter what they do
No matter what they teach us
What we believe is true

No matter what they call us
However they attack
No matter where they take us
We’ll find our own way back

I can’t deny what I believe
I can’t be what I’m not
I know I’ll love forever
I know, no matter what

If only tears were laughter
If only night was day
If only prayers were answered
Then we would hear God say

Chorus

And I will keep you safe and strong
And shelter from the storm
No matter where it’s barren
A dream is being born
No matter who they follow
No matter where they lead
No matter how they judge us
I’ll be everyone you need
No matter if the sun don’t shine
Or if the skies are blue
No matter what the end is
My life began with you

I can’t deny what I believe
I can’t be what I’m not
I know, I know
I know this love’s forever
That’s all that matters now
No matter what

Yo La Tengo - Shadows

Scold me, that’s all you’ve got to say
Coldly hurt me and turn away
You say I’m not sorry that
I’m resolved to what is next
I head for the shadows

Hold me, taking it back in tears
You’ve told me, slowly confessed your fears
But I’ve got myself to protect
It’s too soon for me to forget
I wait in the shadows

In the shadows, where I end up loved
They help me see that I’ve finally won
We wait in your heart

So until I truly believe
That your words convey what you mean
I wait in the shadows
I wait in the shadows
I don’t mind the shadows

Jack’s Mannequin- I’m Ready

And today was a day just like any other

I’m on the verge, I’m on the verge
Unraveling with every word
With every word you say, make me believe
That I won’t feel your tires on the street
As I’m finding the words… You’re getting away

I come undone, oh yes I do
Just think of all the thought wasted on you
And every word you say, say somethin sweet
Cause all I taste is blood between my teeth
As I’m finding the words… Your getting away

Well I’m ready, I’m ready to drop
Oh oh oh oh oh, I’m ready
I’m ready so don’t stop
I’m ready so don’t stop, Keep pushing
I’m ready to fall, oh, I’m ready
I’m ready so don’t call, I’m ready so don’t call

I am aware, I’ve been misled
I disconnect my heart, my head
Don’t wanna recognize when things go bad
The things that you’ll accept
Except that I am finding the words… to say

I’m ready, I’m ready to drop
Oh oh oh oh oh, I’m ready
I’m ready so don’t stop
I’m ready so don’t stop

I wake up to find it’s another
Four aspirin morning, and I dive in
I put on the same clothes I wore yesterday.
When did society decide that we had to change
And wash a tee shirt after every individual use:
If it’s not dirty, I’m gonna wear it.
I take the stairs to the car
And there’s fog on the windows.

(And I’m fighting the words…)

I need caffeine in my blood stream,
I take caffeine in the blood stream.
I grip the wheel and all at once I realize:

(And you’re getting away…)

My life has become a boring pop song
And everyone’s singing along.

Well, I’m ready, to drop, well, I’m ready
I’m ready so don’t stop, oh oh oh oh oh
Well, keep pushing, I’m ready to fall
Well, I’m ready, I’m ready so don’t call
I’m ready so don’t call, oh oh oh oh oh…

I recommend All Things Must Pass by George Harrison, amazing album. One of my favourite in fact. Anyways, moogle inspired me to post this

George Harrison - Awaiting on You All

You dont need no love in
You dont need no bed pan
You dont need a horoscope or a microscope
The see the mess that youre in
If you open up your heart
You will know what I mean
We’ve been polluted so long
Now heres a way for you to get clean

By chanting the names of the lord and youll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
Chanting the names of the lord and youll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see

You dont need no passport
And you dont need no visas
You dont need to designate or to emigrate
Before you can see jesus
If you open up your heart
Youll see hes right there
Always was and will be
Hell relieve you of your cares

By chanting the names of the lord and youll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
Chanting the names of the lord and youll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see

You dont need no church house
And you dont need no temple
You dont need no rosary beads or them books to read
To see that you have fallen
If you open up your heart
You will know what I mean
Weve been kept down so long
Someones thinking that were all green

And while the pope owns 51% of general motors
And the stock exchange is the only thing hes qualified to quote us
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
By chanting the names of the lord and youll be free

Yay George! Its a shame he died…
