This may have been answered but I couldn’t find it:
Say for instance you sleep 8 hours, does this mean that your LD will only seem to last that 8 hours or can your LD self feel like the dream lasted 12 hours, or a day, or longer?

While my LD’s to date have been relatively close to RL time, many people claim that there dreams have lasted much longer than the amount of time they have been asleep. There are many different theories to how this could happen. Some people believe that our mind actually works quicker in dreams, so they are going in “fast forward” even though we don’t notice. It could also be attributed to dream jumps; i.e. the process of getting from point A to point B is cut out, but you still have the feeling that you have done it.
The most blatant way of noticing is, dreaming actual hours of plot, where you have in reality only been asleep for 10 minutes.
Time is relative, and in dreams even more so. A good way to stretch time intentionally is resolving to live every dream moment to the fullest.
…Or vice-versa.
Sometimes the dream lasts (as it seems) for 5 minutes, but in reality it lasts for 5 hours.
Yeah, time can be bent in dreams.
So, to all who want to know the secret to the eternal LD, just try to will your LD to last for a few years in the dream world.
Though I never actually heard of anyone manipulating time perception in LD’s…
Thanks for the responses, I’m still new to LDs so I’m trying to learn what I can. Basically I’m wondering because it would be pretty lame if you were in the middle of doing something in your LD and then it randomly ends because of RL time. It would be interesting to see how many people who are pro’s at LDing actually have manipulated their time perception in their dreams.
Well, that does happen. Frequently, actually. My WBTB alarm is either my best friend or my worst enemy
. It breaks down to one thing, if your SC feels the need for you to wake up for a RL matter, it’ll do so.
