I have been trying WBTB over the summer, and was doing all right, but now I started school and the last two days I have continued with WBTB but when I get up for school I am very tired. Do i just have to get used to getting up earlier and sleeping less?
Try going to bed earlier the night before…
it does take some getting used to (that is, sleeping less), but it can be hard to remember dreams with little sleep and waking up abruptly and rushing to school.
ide recommend going to bed earlier instead, mabye 1 hour earlier or 2.
Thanks stranger
I agree with stranger. Although it can take some willpower to go to bed earlier, it will definitely boost up your dream recall (remember: the longer you sleep, the more REM sleep you have, thus the bigger the chance of remembering REM dreams). Also, try not to WBTB for too long… For instance, instead of staying awake for an hour while doing some LD reading, try to stay awake for only half an hour, but double your efforts (like, do some really intense RCs or autosuggestion - intention strengthening techniques).
Good luck
WBTB hasnt been working 4 me lately…i had my alarm set for 3 in the morning, but i dont remember waking up or turning off the alarm…
and when i do wake up i am very awake, so i try to rest and get sleepy, but then i fall asleep before i get to do MILD or HILD. I dont stay up for more than 5 minutes.
You could use autosuggestion to instruct your mind to wake up at 3am. When practiced for a while, autosuggestion can be a very powerful method. It even allows you to wake up without an alarm.
i’ll try that
but can i do that at the same time as using MILD?
I’d use it in the evening when lying in bed. MILD on the other hand is best practiced when you go to bed after you did WBTB. You might also do the autosuggestion during the day when you have some spare time…
What about when i first go to bed…I have to already tell myself to remember my dreams when i wake up, and that i will have a lucid dream. If I add in another line to repeat to myself will this be too much?
The longer your lines, the more you need to repeat it to get it firmly imprinted in your subconsciousness. Shorter messages are usually more beneficial and effective. So unless you think you can easily incorporate this long message into your subconsciousness, I’d say this is too much. But you can try it and see if it works
just tell yourself “I am aware…I am aware”
StEvE21, if your dream recall is good enough, you don’t have to tell yourself to remember your dreams any more. So that you can focus on other sentences.
Do you have to keep repeating the MILD lines even when you are very experienced?
Yes. You have to practice a technique in order to have lucid dreams, unless you’re a natural lucid dreamer. It could be RC’s, autosuggestion, but you have to practice one. I know somebody very experienced who has about 20 LD’s a month without any technique, but she practises meditation at a rather high level.
Of course, if you can have LD’s with WILD (which is not the case of everybody), you don’t have to repeat lines in order to have DILD’s…
i’m gnna try to WILD tonight, i hope i know what to do tho so i’ll go read somthing about it now
What do you mean? Arent WILD and DILD totally different?
When you WILD, you just try to enter consciously a dream from the waking state. So you don’t need to autosuggest you in order to become conscious in your normal dreams (unless you want to have plenty of LD’s).
Hmmm… Am I clear?
So DILD and MILD both use autosuggestion?
I thoguht DILD was using RCs throughout the day so you eventually do one in a dream and then become lucid
DILD are all the non-WILD techniques (autosuggestion, finding your hands, RC’s, MILD, etc.)
