Has anyone here experienced consioucness deeper than Theta, Into delta and below?? I read somewhere here that Jeff has reach an NDE. What does it feel like? How did you do it?
i might have.

i associate theta with a feeling of perpetual falling… maybe it’s not theta, but my mental map goes something like
awake (beta / alpha) first tiny dip into the unconscious (lower beta/alpha) relaxed but still thinking normally with slight HH (alpha) going real deep but retaining consciousness and memory of what happens when I come out. (alpha/theta) going real deep, getting myoclonic jerks, feeling geniunely uncomfortable and drugged up, cannot retain consciousness well or remember what I am experiencing. (theta? deep alpha theta?)
then if i’m lucky, i fall asleep, into delta perhaps… or REM… i seem to think that I entered REM immediately last night, but I don’t know why I think that, as if I dreamed something or WILDed, I don’t remember.
i think theta is the feeling i get when i’m in a string of thought associations + HH and my consciousness is shifted away or I am barely, if at all, conscious in any sense of the word… but maybe I’m wrong… it can’t be alpha though, alpha you can get to real quick just by closing your eyes… so it’s gotta be alpha/theta or theta, or delta, or theta/delta.
I always think of it like this:
Beta: awake, alert
Alpha: relaxed, just like when you have your eyes closed.
Theta: Deep relaxation, if I start to lose concentration I fall asleep.
Delta: asleep, I have never experienced conscious delta. Except once, but I’m not sure it waas delta.
This delta experience was strange. Even though I was thinking completely about waking (which usually wakes me instantly from theta meditation) I still felt as if I was falling asleep. And unlike usual, instead of the wierd patterns you always see with your eyes closed, I saw a full view of bright purple, then bright yellow. Do you think this is delta?
If so, how near was it to an NDE???
Actually you should get HI when you are in theta. But otherwise I think you are correct I don’t know if I’ve reached delta and been consious, but I don’t think so. If you saw colors you where most likely in theta, if you would have gone a bit deeper you would have started seeing images.
Could this be that?:
I meditated and tried to focus on Existence.
I let thoughts go away until almost no visual thougths come.
Then I felt as if I being enveloped into a warm void sphere and it meant the existence of that thing.
But I didin’t know it celarly just after I “woke up”.
I also didn’t see any sphere and this wasn’t in my mind during a successful try because you cannot associate at anything during this or it can be disrupted. I interpeted my experienc with the sphere idea after I woke up.
When I reached the sphere-like state where I felt a pressure in my chest but it was gentle then it stabilized for some time and I felt almost nothing but existence.
I felt as if I attractted into my consciousness like something would fall into a black hole(I think).
Before all of this I sometimes I saw colours and guess what they were yellow and purple(and rarely red/green).
Yellow and purple is a common HI for me.
the thing is, I was using Bwgen to induce the trance. It slowly ramped down to theta and had been therre for a while, this was when I kept drifting off. Then It dropped to delta, which is when I started seeing these colours.
I shoudl also mention that AS I was in theta my legs become suddenly warm, and my body was going numb, so I’m pretty sure that the theta part was indeed theta. Before I started the meditation I was watching red dwarf on DVD, and during Theta I suddenly saw Kryten’s face, perfectly real, it was very strange. All this makes me thimnk that I was in theta and dropped into something deeper
I have experienced delta trance before and even had a NDE. I might tell you more later because I’m currently busy right now. But I can tell you that when you’re in delta trance your visual cortex is completely offline so you shouldn’t be seeing the HI’s. Plus it is an unique trance where your thoughts don’t exist, on other hand your feelings remain to exist! Your feelings then become your true language…
yeah but I heard the on ‘the edge of the 7th concsiousness’, on the edge of even an NDE, you see bright colours?
well it could be that you were in pure theta, and before, when you were more conscious, and drifting off, you were in alpha/theta, and the two kept oscilliating back and forth.
you could have been in pure theta while you were in that state, and semi theta before it…
but i’m not sure, theta is not necessarily supposed to be sleep, but delta is most definitely sleep…
it goes beta alpha theta delta in the sleep cycle…
and i think, NORMALLY, theta is when you lose consciousness… but… this is all pretty confusing.
I guess we wouldn’t know until we had EEGs, but I think delta should be pretty much a dark or bright white void where you don’t feel the body at all.
NDEs either happen in completely different brainwaves, or, from what I’ve had happen, I think they happen when you catch yourself falling asleep, and you jsut keep falling and falling and falling and never stop.
this talks about it, but it’s from a mystical standpoint, not a scientific one.

i think i may buy a neurofeedback device so i can train myself to enter theta, alpha, delta, etc.
they are real expensive though, but it’d be worth it if it worked… and i really need to learn to train myself up into beta, because i’m always drowsy throughout the day.
mmm, maybe. I’m gunna try it agen now, so I will post soon and tell u wot happens.

Yes, but that is in deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep stage of delta trance… your visual cortex is still offline.
well, I think I may have been having HI, while in the theta part of the bwgen preset, without actually thinking anything of it. Last night I saw circles of light whizzing round infront of my closed eyes, then I started to see these bright blobs of colour appearing randomly. Do these sound like HI??
I must also mention that I started thinking completely bizarre and absract thoughts. As I was lsitening to the sound of the binaural beats, I started thinking that the tones were my mum! I honsetly believed that a sound was my mother! does this sound like theta??
If all that was thet, it makes me think that I experiencd something deeper than that when things changed. Bear in mind that the preset went down to 0.1Hz, so it could have been ‘the edge of the 7th consicousness’.
Just to point out, brainwave freq itself tells nothing about being awake or asleep. All brainwave freqs can be reached in both stages, but for example to meditate into delta while awake it takes certain skills and practise. Also if you listen to BWgen or such and the preset goes to 0.1 Hz, dont worry you will never get that low at all, in fact you wont probably even reach delta stage at all since this takes as I have said more then just listening to a tape. Also, inducing an NDE can be done from beyond the onset of delta brainwaves, but this again isnt something you ‘just’ do without the proper preparation, some talents and a lot of patience and meditating.
I have to agree with Xetrov. It’s very hard to enter into delta waves while awake and even sometimes to maintain consciousness in that stage cbecause you have nothing to focus on except your feelings. Take a lot of practices. If you succeed, you DEFINITELY will know!
NDE only happens if you fall into lower levels of delta… It’s risky though… One wrong move can be very bad. That’s why the preparation is important and that you’re prepared for it.
Good luck though
Does this whole stuff(delta and beyond) has to do anything with heartbeat control?
Because I think if someone could control his heartbeat and lower it to about 40-50/min with proper preparation and breathing of course then he could project very easily.
Yogis can control their heartbeat down to even 40/min.
(I heard maybe lower, but I hardly believe it and I think it must invlove some supernatural to stay alive in such state).
I think conscious heartbeat control isn’t necessary but can be another way to extra low states.
well in my experience i will get to like… 3-4 breaths a minute, real deep slow breaths.
it does nothing to me… i have to have normal medium paced breathing to get “deep” and drowsy… so… i don’t know about lowering the heartbeat, those are all sypmtoms of sleep, low heartbeat, slow breathing, but i’m not sure if slow breathing or low heartbeat, if consciously induced, would put you in altered states.
Well low heartbeat is indeed more of an effect then a cause of meditation. And believe it or not, yogi’s can actually lower theirs to absurd low levels (I believe well under a few beats a minute, to be sure we should ask Jeff lol…)
I dont think you would die, bcus lowering the heartbeat puts u into this trance, in this trance your bodily functions would slow down, almost like hibernation.
so has anyone here actually experienced an NDE?
