not sure where to post this but, evertime i try wild i find that i cant go to sleep. i even used self hypnosis to try to induce lucidness i felt like i was close to shifting to dream/or sleep state. idk if im trying to hard or what but my body is paralized but for some reason im still for the most part… awake. any tips? the only lucid dreams i seem to be able to have are natural ones, that dont try or expect to have. i have them often but not as much as i would like to. (paralized from hypnosis)
Moved from General Lucidness and appended “[when wilding]” to the title for clarification.
It is probably caused by too much exitement, or expectation. Remember that WILD includes falling asleep
so must let go almost completely, just watching with an edge of consciousness what’s going on. It’s less about forcing consciousness and more about knowing it will happen, more confidence, willpower if you want. Besides, you can still get asleep in a WILD practice and have a DILD from the increased awareness
so it’s better to have less than more.
If you want a serious WILD, anyway, a big help consists in the ability to stay focused for some time (minutes) without any distractions poppoing out, so you can relax your body and keep your desired intention in mind while letting the rest fall asleep. Meditation might be your tool for doing that (as is mine).
hypnosis always seems 2 relax me but i can never really sleep on it. so, how would i meditate? how much of a difference is there between the two?
Well, meditation as I see it consists initially of just increasing your awareness, possibly in dedicated sessions, and learning to just listen and feel, instead of that continous chatter going on through your head. (Not that you must force it to stop, it stops by itself after a while of relaxing and being aware.). After that, you can truly be capable of focusing on something, or relax by foxusing on nothing if you prefer.
Hypnosis is also about reaching trance states, but IMHO you don’t fully get to learn how to get to them yourself (even if it can surely give results faster with the right frame of mind); with hypnosis you can relax your body, sure, but be sure you relaxed your mind too and are peaceful, instead of exited and tense
good thought, but ive been up 4 A while reading an from what ive read, the best method is mild. because im a light sleeper but highly motivated. it just is frustrating i love being lucid so i think sometimes i focus to hard on being lucid that makes it hard to drift off to sleep.
Oh lol, the memories. I got it a lot too, with time spent on trying you’ll both learn to get asleep fater and put your emotions under control, it’s a matter of practice
