Was I in Sleep Paralysis?

I went to bed last night listening to Deerhunter’s Halcyon Digest with the intention of entering sleep paralysis and becoming lucid through a WILD. My body felt incredibly heavy and it was like this about halfway through the album. After another half an hour when the album ended I was unsure of whether my body had entered sleep paralysis or not. I opened my eyes and did not hallucinate like I had imagined I would and I was also immediately able to move.

1: Was I paralyzed?
2: If not, how close was I?
3: Is there a definitive point at which you are positive you are in sleep paralysis?

  1. No, you could still move, so you weren’t
  2. I’ve been in this stage before, you were pretty close, moving messed you up
  3. Yes, you hear things, see things, could feel things, and you can’t move at all, with the exception of the eyes.

Opening or moving your eyes can mess you up, so you can’t open your eyes to see if you are or aren’t in SP.

Better luck next time, just don’t move a muscle.

It feels like I’m always in this stage despite how long I wait. I was in this stage for over 30 minutes and still didn’t enter sleep paralysis apparently. My body is broken.

First off, DO NOT THINK THAT. Your subconsious will take that as a command, then you will be effed. As for your stage, maybe listening to music was messing you up. Try keeping awake purely through thoughts.

Read about WILD everywhere you can, try some new techniques, try and make your own, but trust me, you will find a way that works for you, if you are willing to look.

You just gotta let go and relax your body more. Look up 61-point technique, and try it when you want t attempt this kind of things, a relaxed body makes a world of difference

Also, doing some stretches before bed can loosen up your muscles, and release tension in your joints.

For more info, are you doing WILD before bed, or are you using WBTB?

I am doing WILD.

I know you are doing WILD, but do you do it before going to sleep normally, or are you doing after around six hours of sleep?

Sorry, I’m new to this. I do it before going to sleep normally as my current schedule wouldn’t allow the WBTB method.

Alright, thank you.

I have the same predicament, and it takes much longer before you enter SP doing it before bed.

No, that wasn’t sleep paralysis. And if you ever experienced it good and proper, you’d never want to experience it again.

I no longer sleep on my back because that the position where it tends to occur.

It’s not fun. Go to Google and search for “old hag.”

Arne, the purpose of experiencing SP is you can use it in a step to enter an LD. Many try to experience this.

i looked for the 61-point technique, but can’t find it can you put a link please

Oh, I know all about sleep paralysis. If you want to know about it, here’s a Yahoo Group you can join. I’ve been a member for years.

If you knew, then why did you question the point or desire to achieve it?

Sleep paralysis is no joke. I gave the original poster this warning, which he needed to hear:

No, that wasn’t sleep paralysis. And if you ever experienced it good and proper, you’d never want to experience it again.<<

Mmm, not necessarily, some people are not bothered by it, and merely see it as a side-effect of WILD.

Also, remember that SP is just one of the many ways to LD’ing, or even WILD’ing. If that doesn’t suit you, just look for another one

I second that. If you don’t like it, do something else. Some people really like SP, including myself, and can get great LD’ing results from it. So please stop trying to scare and demotivate people. Let them try it if they want and decide for themselves if it’s fun or if “they’d never want to experience it again.”

Hmm… I think you just need to remember one point: It is completely harmless. But Arne I don’t really get you. To you LD’ing is hard. You don’t think you’ll make it. You don’t try it. Yet, your still on this forum. Seems like a helluva paradox.
