What do you guys think?

Sorry for the long read.

I have been trying to LD for about a week and a half now mainly using the MILD technique and doing a thousand RCs a day. So far no success. But last night I did WBTB for the first time ever. I went to bed at around 9:30 and set my alarm for 3 AM. I woke up and read out of my Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming book for about 15 minutes. Then when I tried to go back to sleep I tried the MILD technique again. I ended up falling asleep after an hour and had some weird dreams.

One that ended up as a 5 minute nightmare was me in my dream trying to sleep in my room and opening my eyes to see that my closet light was on (I have had nightmares from my closet since I was 5 and I am over them, its just that I hate waking up to a random light shining under the crack of my closet door). I freaked and tripped out of my bed (still in my dream) to run and turn the light off. I then thought that I was dreaming and did a succesful nose RC. Although I knew it was a dream I was still completely freaking out and tried to make the fear go away by closing my eyes at which time I felt myself falling and I woke up in a sweat.

The second dream was normal and had me being at my old high school with friends that I havent seen in about a year or so. The thing about this dream is that while I was trying to fall asleep I was thinking to myself “what ever happened to those guys?”. Then as I was falling asleep I said that if I see them I will know that I am dreaming. And, although I didn’t become lucid, I am excited to see that it did work in that I was able to see them in my dream!

I am pretty happy now. I know that the way MILD works is that LDing is that last thing you have to be thinking about before you sleep. Its just that my mind wanders a lot and now I realize that I need to stay focused. My goal is to LD at will and I think the MILD technique will work. I am completely dedicated to this 110%. What do you guys think of my experiences and idea?

Nice to hear you had your first lucid dream

WBTB combined with MILD is probably the easiest way to have lucid dreams, so keep practicing! I´m also working on being able to lucid dream at will, so good luck to us both

The falling sensation could be becaus you where entering into a OBE (Out of Body Experience) and thus in the proces of passing towards the astral (dream) plane.

The fear is created by the conscious mind (EGO) that does not want to loose control and leave the physical body and tries to wake you up (By ANY means possible (its a hefty trickster the ego)- you will learn in time). The same fear people experience when going through THE VOID (a space of black nothingness, that lies between the astral an dthe physical plane).
