I don’t know if this topic has been already discussed but now when I’m paying attention on my dreams, I see that I usually dream about something that made my day special, something significant, something that is not ordinary.
So what if we could assume what are we going to dream, and use that as a big DS. And I’m not talking about some little signs that appears in almost every dream (signs that we usually need to search for to become lucid) but huge ones, scenes, or group of people, or maybe some specific feeling, etc.
I’m having this thought because, for holidays, my cousins visit me after some time, and that was this significant moment of the day… and later i had a dream about my cousins… I would say
Some another day:
I’ve read something about jupiter, that caught my attention, and I did a little search of mine own, and guess what… i was dreaming that I was on jupiter…
I would say
And the list of this kind of dreams goes on and on… So you know what made your day special, and from my experience I will dream about that, so we just need to look for this signs…
The general idea is what if we make our own signs, and bring them in dream?? Plus those we usually see in our dreams!? Maybe the chance of becoming lucid is bigger!?
I would like to hear your opinions! And I hope that you understand what was I trying to say!
1: Are really big (like seeing your cousin)
2: Surprised you (Yesterday we didn’t have electricity and it was KIND of a shock (see what I did there ? ) And I dreamed about it.
For example, if you never cook, don’t go to your kitchen, cook a turkey or something, and then tell yourself that if you see yourself cooking again, you will do an RC.
Instead, If you see your mom cooking a turkey, and the turkey comes back alive, which you didn’t know it was gonna happen, then tell yourself that if you see something dead reviving, do an RC.
But this is just my idea, if your mantras work a lot, you could for example tell yourself to dream of a particular thing, and then do an RC when you see it.
Yes this is about mantra and autosuggestion… So i was thinking, that this could just be some kind of a preparation on what you are going to dream, possible scenarios…
And if you dream something like that, then that should be a dream sign, more significant then just some wish about what you want to dream about…
You know what ? I think I’m gonna try that for about a week !
I find this very interesting and I think I can go into the next level, trying to have an LD. Since mantras work like a charm with me, I think this technique suits me the best.
Ok well my dreams are based A LOT on my memory so I never fly or go somewhere like in a volcano or something, I’m always at school or something lol. I never saw a common DS in my dreams and really NOTHING surprised me today or anything like that. BUT the fact that you have more (or less) than 5 fingers in a dream really surprised me so I said : I’ll dream about my hands, and count the fingers
I didn’t say a mantra to remember my dreams because i didn’t want my mantra to be too long. I didn’t see my hands but I decided I’ll try this for one complete week
Cya tomorow
Also you can get signs from your dreams about your future, example :
My mom once had a dream, sky was dark orange, it was full with flocks of crows, one crow hit her in her back…
And tomorrow, in real life, while she was driving her car, other car hit her from her back, and she almost broke her neck!
Wow, that is extreme!! I hope she is alright!!! I’ve read about that, about people that dream about something and then that happens them in WL.
But my idea is just the opposite… Do something special in WL and maybe you’ll dream about it, and maybe it will help you to become lucid! Simple as that!
I think what’s Alive saying is just a coincidence or what we can call selective memory. You have many dreams, and chance something SIMILAR to dreams happens in real life is really high. Now, if you dream about something and the EXACT same thing happens in real life, that’s weird. But still, our minds are really powerful, and can change memories. If you recall a dream, and something similar happens IRL, your mind could change the memory of the dream later on so it looks like it is exact. On the other hand, if that trend continues, that’s really strange.
But you, dB_FTS are onto something. This could be the reason why people recall mutual dreams. Let’s say your cousin can recall dreams every night. And to him it was joy to see you again, just like it was joy for you to see him. If your theory works, there is a high chance that you will have a mutual dream. So there’s nothing special about mutual dreams. Or another example. Let’s say two friends watch a detective film IRL. The film cought interests of both friends. They will most likely have a shared dream in which they both are in a detective movie. You get what I mean?
My family is really fanatic, also, many people when dying(for example my granma…) they see strange things happening in real life before death, like some objects just fly away from the room, or calling her dead mother. I’ve heard from a lot of people that they parents died like that.
The point is, my brother experienced that when he was about 12, objects started to fly away, and it wasn’t dream, and he’s alive…pretty bad experience.
And, I am very fanatic, also I’ve opened a topic about something what’s happening to me sometimes.
After you read the topic, see this. Once while that was happening, something hit me hard in my stomach, and nobody was in the room, and for real, I couldn’t breed couple of seconds, and then, just like someone whispered something on my ear, word witch was sad 2 times, I was afraid to death! I could open my eyes, but I didn’t.
If I have a really obvious dream sign (such as lava rolling down the hill or fish flying through the sky) and still don’t realize I’m dreaming, the next day, I tell myself over and over, “if I ever see [the obvious dream sign] again, I will realize I’m dreaming and become lucid”
After a while, the dream sign usually repeats again and I either become lucid or semi-lucid (I have TONS of semi-lucid dreams)
Really intresting reading.
I remember when I was a little kid. Sometimes when I go to bed I was doing a mantra in my head of that I should dream about.
And it often worked.
If I try to forget something during the day odd are I’ll dream about it. For example if I were to try to NOT think about cats all day I would most likely dream about cats. I find that trying to push something out of you’re head generally means that you still of it all day and will most likely dream about it due to the large amount of thought but into supressing the topic at hand.
What I have found to work as of late is do a reality check every time you see one of the re occuring (Spelling) DC in RL. That way you will hypothetically do a RC in almost all of you’re dreams with some training.
When we sleep our brain automatically starts working harder then what it actually does on the day.
It starts to memorize important things, and sort of “throw out” and forget unneccecary details.
The brain thinks about what we have done today, it starts memorizing it, sort of putting it into “archives” in our brains and then it kind of saves it.
That means that when we sleep the brain thinks about the day, what we done, and then whilst it works, it creates a dream to entertain the brain while its working
creepy huh?
Thats what I heard on a tv show
So really you always can assume what u would dream about
Are there any goods books or articles about what determines what will pop up in your dreams and what doesn’t? Most days I hardly notice a single detail from the past day in my dreams and dream incubation doesn’t seem to sort much effect either. It feels a bit like I’m sill lacking the knowledge to come up with a solution to better predict the dreamsigns that are most likely the pop up in my dreams.
this does happen, but in my opinion, it only happens when you see something really big… very striking. but the problem is, if you want to have LDs often… well, most people’s days (and mine too) are really monotonous and boring. i don’t dream about this. i dream of other things.
even when i went to celebrate this Easter to another city to a relatives’ place, i didn’t dream of it. although it was a rather big situation and scene change, i didn’t dream of it.
however, there was one really good idea allenthelero… genius! whenever i see my mom, i’ll do a RC i see her like all the time, and she’s the most common DC in my dreams. good, very good idea!
Last night I’m laying in a bed and I’m telling myself that I’m going to dream about interview for a job, because I had one this morning, I knew that this is going to be a big change for me and I just knew that I’m going to dream about it…
And did I?! Of course I did, but didn’t realized that because I didn’t prepare myself for that I just went to sleep… And to be more hilarious I had to more dreams next too this one and both were about changes… One was about changing college [also would be a big change] and another was about changing cell phone…
