I’m not trying to mock or disrespect anyone. I don’t understand why I would want to keep my DJ on the forum?
I think my reservations comes from the feelings of my dreams being so personal. For me it would be a real -putting myself out there- thing. Like telling my secrets for everyone to see.
When I first joined I thought I would never post my dreams here … but I had begun a DJ before the first month was done. Keeping an online DJ here means I am able to share the experiences with my online friends here, get motivation if I need it and cerebrate my LDs with others.
The DJ forum is members only and we can also see who has viewed the topic by clicking the ‘big brother eye’
Also with it being visible and not just a personal thing, it motivates you to continue to post your dreams and not think “Oh I can’t be bothered today”
Ihaven’t Had enough to feel that i should put them up yet, but i think that i would be nice to maybe have some feedback from others. And you don’t really have to put them all up just the ones you feel comfortable sharing, which is what I’m going to do when i have more then just one to put up at first.
It is always very easy to find. I only have to remember my ld4all password, and i can post to it no matter where i am through mobile internet. It is also more safe that only keeping it at home, since it is also stored on ld4all’s server. It is also easy for me to go back and re-read later.
The second reason, and the reason why i keep it on a public forum, is that other people may notice patterns that i don’t. There are some dreams that i don’t post, mostly those who give away personal information about other people. We don’t have to post everything in public.
The only dreams I wouldn’t post about if I had a DJ are wet dreams. Other than that, I don’t see why anyone shouldn’t post their DJ. It’s a great method of making friends and learning. I’m also very curious to how other people dream, so I like to read the DJs (especially the Yoge Mountains )
Also, you can make a nicer DJ on here than on paper.
I haven’t been posting my dreams online in ages, but back when I did my dream recall was far better than it is now. Then again, keep in mind that back then I wrote in my personal DJ with far more detail!
But, back then, in addition to writing out my DJ, I would type it up a second time on this forum, which made me think about my dreams for longer and thus influence my DR even more.
Besides, while some people may be private, or don’t think their dreams are good enough to be shared, keep in mind that some people just like to express this kind of stuff. And maybe they have cool dreams that they want to share with the people on the forum. Back when I had an online DJ I really looked forward to reading other people’s comments.
I write both my ND-s and LD-s into paper DJ. But as i don’t separate them in my DJ, it’s easier to write out LD-s and post them online separated from ND-s. That way i can also convert those LD-s into .pdf format and keep in separate file.
Thank you all for your response. I was able to find things in everyones post that helped.
I Like the thought on how it can help motivate me to keep me moving foward on my quest.A kind of accountability.
I see how people’s comments and input could help keep me grounded from going too far out in left field.
I’m going to see if I can muster up the courage to start my ld4all DJ.
Get the camera, I’m taking one of my first baby steps!
I don’t see the reason to be so secretive about your dreams. Sure, you may take some precautions. I, for instance, always abbreviate names from DCs based on real people, so there won’t be trouble with them, and in case someone might take what happens in a dream personally, you can “dodge” that since it’s not the person’s name.
I guess that exposing yourself makes you care less about what other people think, too. Ok, you may want to avoid trouble, but really, when I first joined I would avoid detailing the dreams with more sexual content. Nowadays, I just add a disclaimer and detail them as much as I remember. You get feedback, you get portability… Online DJs rule If you feel you want a “real thing”, you can keep both, or do like me and others - print your DJs after each part, or after the year is over.
I have a real DJ, every morning when I wake up, I write them down.
Only the special dreams, those about LD4all members and the lucid ones I share with LD4all. Why? Because I dream A LOT, if I have to post every dream in my DJ online I will have lots and lots of work. Since I have ,on a normal night, at least 3 dreams to write down and sometimes even 10… yeh it’s too much to post here.
Why I post the other dreams online, well - because this forum goes about lucid dreaming, duh. It’s great if people respond on your dream stories. It’s just nice to know there are other people with the same interests, sometimes even with the same goals (ex. the quests) - other DJ’s can learn you something, can give you inspiration etc.
You said you don’t see a reason to be secretive. Not that, more along the lines of. Don’t air your dirty laundry, there are cretin things you don’t say in public. You don’t talk to a client at work like you would a family member.
I have to admit some of my dream thinking and behavior don’t show my in an intelligent light.
Okay, no real names.
Exposing myself is right. Like exposing under belly.
Vulnerable is more like it.
I am already “really” writing dreams.(Not every day like I should) I’m old and tactile, I like a pen and paper. I wrote this before I posted it.
I think a feeling of vulnerability depends on your personal beliefs on what a dream is. If you believe it is a spiritual experience I could fully understand you being private over it. Similarly, if you see dreams as your mind processing things, that elements of dreams have some attachment to real life events and thoughts, you will most likely feel vulnerable sharing some dreams. (I know I fall into this category.) If they are simply stuff you dreamed and don’t connect to your waking thoughts in any way other than a few shared themes, then it’s likely you’ll be more open about sharing them.
I think what sleeping dog is putting forward, is that some dreams deal with thoughts etc that are personal and she doesn’t want to show them openly in public. Something I can totally relate to, which is one of the great things, you don’t need to post all your dreams. Only post what you feel comfortable sharing, as Rodrigo says, hopefully you’ll gradually feel more and more comfortable posting things.
One thing I try to remember is that by posting things which are more personal to me, it’s possible to meet people who relate to you better or realise people you know share some experience. If neither of two people share something because they feel vulnerable, they are less likely to meet one another and be able to discuss things. Also, even though some connection between a life-event or thought is obvious to you, it isn’t to others. (Except maybe somebody who has felt it / had it happen to them too ) It’s also possible you are mistaken and alternatives people suggest could be interesting to read.
