How could I not realize it? For the past month I have been questioning my reality with RC’s. So far I have had no luck…I do a reality check maybe 15-20 times I day. I understand this is a common problem, but how is it that I’m not doing so in my dreams? Just last night I had a dream where I was in Disney World (I just came back from a trip last week) and I said to myself in the dream “Gee…It’s weird…It feels like I left this place not too long ago…” and I didn’t even think of doing an RC or questioning my reality when I’m sure I normally would! What Gives???
I’ve never had luck with RCs. I’ve had lucid dreams, but RCs have never been helpful for me expect to maintain lucidity. Just keep doing them, eventually your mind will realize it’s dreaming. You’ve been doing this for a month. It takes some time. It took me 6 weeks before my first LD and ever since I’ve been able to get them pretty easily as long as I get sleep (which I hardly do which keeps me from LDing more =[… but that’s a different story)
When you do an RC, make sure you truly question whether or not you are dreaming. Don’t just do it absent mindedly.
Expect your RCs to work, expect to find that you are dreaming. Also make sure to do each RC a second time, even do a different type of RC.
For example, when I do a nose RC, I think to myself first:
“If I can breathe through my nose, then I am dreaming.” breathe “Since I couldn’t breathe through my nose, I must not be dreaming.”
Then I usually try again, or stick my finger through my hand. I also occasionally think about what I was doing a few hours ago. Sometimes I have trouble remembering when awake, so that also helps me keep the mentality that I may be dreaming at any time.
Good luck, I hope this helps!
