WILD Troubles....

I’ve tried and tried to WILD. I’ve read the little guide thingy, I’ve looked into dozens of different WILD techniques, I’ve done everything I could’ve possibly done to prepare. Here’s how it goes: I get in bed and close my eyes. I pay attention to the little colorful dots that bounce around in my eyes, I don’t move my body at all, I relax myself, I visualize the dream setting, I try my best to stay focused. But I always end up losing conciousness before I even get close! I’ve tried this when I’m really tired and when I’m not too tired, and it always ends the same way.

I’ve only gotten a little closer once. I woke up around 9 AM and I was still tired, so decided to try a WILD. I did all the steps and everything, and my mind was still fully concious. The thing was, though, that I didn’t feel like I was entering any kind of sleep. I could hear my dad and my mom and my brother talking in the other room clearly; it wasn’t becoming muffled or unclear or anything. I also didn’t experience any HI, just random little dots and splotches of color in my eyes like I do every night whether I WILD or not. I don’t know how much time passed (it felt like maybe an hour) but then I started to get these weird sensations in my legs and feet. I’ve heard that when you enter SP, you feel like you’re vibrating. It didn’t really feel like that, though–it actually felt more like I was shivering, except I wasn’t cold at all, it was the feeling of shivering without the cold. These weird little shivers went up and down my legs and I wondered if it was SP. They were starting to go through the rest of my body now too, and I remained concious, waiting for anything to happen. All of a sudden, my little brother ran up to me and shook me several times, yelling at me to wake up. I was SO mad at him!

But I’m still wondering…was I even close to becoming lucid at all? I don’t know what would’ve happened if my brother hadn’t woken me up. Am I doing something wrong with WILDing, or am I on the right track?

well i cant really tell if u did it right or not cuz im also having problems trying to have an LD. I think the problem might be that ur parents and brother were talking cuz i think its suppose to be quiet when u try it to concetrate? i dont kno…just my opinion. cuz the same happened to me this morning when i tried WBTB and WILD. i heard my sister and friend talking lound and it was hard to concetrate so i just stopped. The weird vibrations u feel is perfectly normal tho. except i dont feel them at all… i just feel my body get heavy and get numb. maybe cuz i stop to early. But i feel like when im in SP for a bit, maybe 20 min er so, a random dot appears and it feels like my body sorta jerks upward a little bit in my back and then my eyes go weird and my heartrate increases. and thats where im stuck on. but I think u were close. just do it like at night er something where no one will wake u up.

-Uh Byakugan? You know your avatar is shariengan, right? NARUTO RULES!!!
-Back on subject kaybee2 Here is your problem. You said your paying attention to the little colorfull dots, well if your seeing them it means your seeing behind your eyelids which can mess up your WILD. Try Visualizing a bunch of images, and HI should come by itself as long as you hold on to that “intent” of HI. I have had major problems with falling asleep too, the trick is to get your HI real enough for your body to reach SP.

Thanks for the tips Reaper

But the thing is, I have trouble visualizing certain things for long periods of time–especially when I’m falling asleep. I’ll start visualizing something, and my mind will start straying without me even realizing it, and I eventually lose conciousness and enter a ND.

Also, this may seem like a weird question, but what exactly IS HI? I mean, I know that it’s the little images that appear in your mind, but what is HI and what isn’t? Like, are the little colorful dots that appear whenever I’m falling asleep HI? I get those every night when I close my eyes; they’re usually not very dream-like. Or does it have to be more physical, like you actually hear things or really FEEL like you’re in the dreamscape thingy? Basically, is it just the random images that pass in front of your mind’s eye, or is it something more?

I’m also not exactly sure what you meant by me “seeing behind my eyelids” could mess up my WILD. Doesn’t HI take place behind my eyelids?

Sorry, I’m just a little confused.

Well its like this. You are using your eyes to see. You need to enter your mind. Well HI is typically the images and things you see when your going to enter a dream, and they allways appear real. A visuallation could be considerd HI, or pre HI becuase the images are before a dream. THe dots arent it has somthing to do with your eyes or somthing. Here is what you need to do visualize until HI starts coming randomly in your minds eye by itself. You dont need to visualize if HI comes automatically. Try not to stray! it happens a lot to me and I end of falling alseep. But thats becuase I dont get enough sleep so im allways tired. When you enter the dream world everything seems more real. The HI, sound, and stuff like that. HI is the most important. But sounds and stuff can hint that your getting further in the WILD. Hope I have cleared things up for you. tell me if I missed somthing.

Maybe you should try visualizing yourself in a place that you use to be in your dreams… (For example: I use to dream that I’m in my old school… So, I try to do WILD visualizing myself in my old school ^^!!!)

Ok Reaper, I think I understand what you’re saying. Basically HI is the basic “first stages” of a dream, like just a bunch of random images and sounds and stuff, right? I think I get it now. I actually like to try and visualize because sometimes the HI that my subconcious tries to give me isn’t too pleasant (think giant mosquitoes buzzing really loudly in your ear!). Is it okay to visualize my own HI so I can induce kind of a pleasant, “customized” dream environment to enter? I think I’ve heard of this being a technique somewhere…

Razor2518, I like your idea. I’ve found that thinking of places that I’ve visited before in my dreams often helps me focus. Since your mind has visited these places before, it’s much easier to “see” them in your mind and make it seem more real. I’m going to try that tonight.

visualizing your HI should be ok, but natrual HI is better because usually if you visualize your HI you might need to create a dream world first by visualizing it. Or else it starts turning into a some what different technique than classic WILD. Think happy thoughts, for nice HI. At any rate if you can visalize images that look very real than it should be ok.

Okay, got it. Happy thoughts = happy HI. :content:
