WILDing with music...

Hey guys, a few days ago I tried the WILD method, and I must say I was very impressed with the results, even though i couldn’t reach lucidity. This is how it went:

I was doing nothing in my computer when suddenly the power went out, in all the house, I was in my room, and it was very dark, I thought that I should tried the WILD method in this darkness, because it is really very relaxing and peaceful.

So I layed in my bed, got my ipod and put some ‘‘New Age’’ music, and I began relaxing all my body, and closed my eyes. I layed with my eyes closed, thinking, and listening to the music…After a while, my body felt a little like stone, I thought this was some kind of mild SP, because even though I couldn’t move my body that easily, I knew that if I tried harder, I could move my arms and legs, still It felt interesting.

After some time, I began thinking and picturing ‘‘silly’’ stuff, I immediatly and consciously became aware that this had to be HI. So far so good!

As time passed, I began ‘‘drifting’’ with these ‘‘silly’’ stuff, like being carried away. And I think that this is the bridge from being awake, to falling asleep, and have a dream.

Unfortunately, I had my cellphone nearby and I recieved a text message; What was interesting about this was the fact that I didnt even hear the ringtone (because of the headphones and the music), and the vibrations of the device we’rent that strong, I could feel the light in my eyes, even though they were closed.

So my question is (xD), is it a good idea to attempt WILD with music on? I think it really puts me in the mood, It even makes me think of trying an Astral Journey and stuff.

By the way, this is the song that I like the most, I’m sure many here have listened to it, and if not, I’m sure you will love it!:

By the way, if any of you know about more music similar to that song, please let me know! I’d like to listen to them!

And sorry for the huge long post, I know reading long posts is annoying xD

It’s never worked for me, but I still do it because I just like falling asleep while listening to music.

Enya’s Storms in Africa is my favorite. If you don’t mind lyrics, Emilie Autumn’s Across the Sky is also quite soothing-- but I don’t think she does songs like that anymore.

Yes, laying on the bed listening to music, (specially that kind of music) is incredibly relaxing!

I checked the songs you linked, and I liked them, I liked Enya’s a little more though, but still thanks for sharing them!

for me native american flute relaxes and clears my mind

Mind sharing some tunes from specific artists? I would greatly appreciate it!

what about binaural beats?
I listen to those sometimes before i go to bed (when my GF doesnt have my ipod lol) and i get to the state you are in Fret. Only issue is that i twitch heavily when i go through sleep cycles, or just fall to sleep, and i scare myself awake.

I think that binaural beats are a little annoying and boring  , never tried them at sleep though, I guess I should give it a try >.<

How would you describe the twitchings? how frequent are they? Are you fully awake when you have them?

Twitching is normal when your entering sleep I experience that to just try not to worry and know its supposed ot happen

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I listen to Jeff Ball, and R. Carlos Nakai most often. Basically any songs are good just so long as theyre the softer ones.

Thank you I’ll check those out!

I used to WILD then fall asleep to a great band called “The Foals,” at the time i called this “hallucinating myself to sleep” =p since I had no idea what the HI where. These were the most intense of these images i’ve ever had but haven’t tried it in a while, after reading this thread though i think i’ll be revisiting it soon.

If you liked Adiemus, you might also like Madokara Mieru, it has the same combination of melody and intensity.

@ distracted: Interesting! So did you manage to hallucinate yourself to sleep like you usted to? By the way I’ll check The Fouls out!

Thank you for sharing! Very soothing music as well Elly
