would they lie?

Ok if I was to talk to aomone in a LD would they lie or tell the truth?

Depends, they can either lie or tell the truth, just like any person.

It’s the same with real life.
It’s your choice whether you want to trust them or not, but, if its about the dream world itself, then, go and investigate!!! :content:

Yeah I mean tworads real life

You mean if you asked a dream character a question regarding the waking world, would they tell the truth?

I guess it would all depend on your own knowledge on the question, or what you want the answer to be.

I’ll create a quick example. Lets just say you suspect that a friend of yours has stolen something from you in the waking world (reality), and you ask them if they did so in the dream. Chances are the answer will be what you want it to be, since its your head. People in your dream can theoretically only know as much about what goes on in the waking world as you do, since it is all in your head.

I asked a DC what he represents, but he wouldn’t tell me, and made me work it out myself. I reckon they would lie, but you’d probably be able to tell.

Heres another thing i did last night.

I asked 2 DCs the “answer to life” one gave a really long intimate speech…The other said Peanut Butter

You must like Peanut Butter, or at least part of you must. I really like Peanut Butter, but I’ve ran out of bread, and I feel like such a monster if I eat it straight out of the jar.

I’m not so sure that you would be able to tell. Here’s an experiment that I do sometimes to prove that I can lie to myself and believe it.

  1. run some hot water, hot enough that you can’t keep your hand in it long, but not enough to damage you. (the shower Is where i first learned this, although I’ve found out it works anywhere.)
  2. put your hand/whatever in it and feel how hot it is.
  3. pull out your hand/whatever
  4. tell yourself the water is actually cold and put whatever you’re doing this with back in and hold it there, continuously thinking to yourself that it’s cold.
  5. If you’ve done it correctly, the water will feel similar to if you were running cold water.

So if I can do that in waking life, in a dream it would be much easier to believe than something like hot water being cold, so the DC would probably do a mighty fine job of convincing me of a lie.

I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but hot water (such as in a jacuzzi) feels cold because of its high temperature. I believe this is caused by over stimulation of the temperature nerves and does not require believing the water is cold to actually have it feel cold.

Telling yourself it is cold, however, may prolong the effect before any pain sets in and you realize the water is actually hot, so you may be on to something. I’ll have to try it out and compare.

i actually did that hot water thing once

but i never experienced it with a jacuzzi

i watched this show once on people who walked on hot coals, they did it by meditating on cool moss, right before walking, spending a long time building the idea that they were just walking on cool moss.

i’d like to do that lol!

the DCs will tell you what you expect them to, unless they are real beings

sry to burst your bubble but actually when most people walk on hot coals. they don’t get burned because the carbon atoms in the coal are poor heat conductors, which makes it transfer heat very slowly, so walking across coals wouldn’t burn you, but standing there would. it explains it all in this article on www.howstuffworks.com

It’s your dream so there only going to answer whatever you would say, such as “peanut butter” so you can’t really take a DC seriously, they’re basically representations of you.
