Harry Potter: The Half-Blood Prince

Entitled to your opinion of course but then why did you bother with it? Especially a whole day?

I’m almost on page 2!

I haven’t been in a reading mood much lately, so I still haven’t started it.

I reached chapter 11 in two hours. I just haven`t been in much of a reading mood lately…

I was wondering myself.

I guess 'cause my mom bought it for me with her money and was getting pissed with me just sitting on the computer all the time. Also, I don’t like quitting a book in the middle of it.

J.K. Rowling said on a recent television interview that she will write one more Harry Potter book and no more. The 7th book will end the Harry Potter series.
Also, the Pope did not say that the Harry Potter books were evil. What he said was that children may not have an opportunity to develop properly spiritually, since the books border the occult.
Also, the fundamentalists known as the Christian right of the Bible belt southern region of the United States, has announced that the following books,(to name a few), are strictly forbidden for children’s reading:

  1. Harry Potter
  2. Cinderella
  3. Snow White and the seven dwarfs
  4. Hansel and Gretel
  5. The Wizard of Oz,and several others. Many of these books are not only banned, but are burned since they contain a witch or magick.

I live inside the bible belt, and while I have been witness to many fundie assholes getting their way, I have never seen a book burning. Maybe if I ventured further South…

Jeez! What about stuff like Milton’s Paradise Lost or Shakespeare’s Hamlet? They’re both violent and occultic.

“Book burnings”! The thought makes me cringe. We should be encouraging our children to read.

I did not think anyone, even the bible belt states, still practiced the burning of books. Did you actually see a book burning or know for a fact that such an event happened! Sorry for going a bit off topic here but, I am from NY and here even the thought of burning a book, any book, is a sin and completely repugnant to us.

To give the illusion that I am trying to stay on topic, I will tell you that I have not purchased the half blood prince yet. But I will soon!

I’ve never heard of a book burning here. Although in the sixties we may have burned beatles stuff.

wooh, i finished the book yesterday and finally dare to read this topic, i was afraid i would read spoilers, but gladly there aren’t any real ones.

I liked it much better than the book before it, it was a fine read.

i was right about the halfblood prince  well no surprise at all for me. He was one of my ‘suspects’ - i thought somebody else too. What to say without giving away something… I think i can imagine what the next book will be like. But then again, maybe it will be completely different  Anyone want to discuss the book with me, PM  (coughanamcaracough  )

I just started it. I’m on Chapter 5 I think…

Well now that you have five stars Wolf you’ll have more time to read  Congrats!

Hey- I didn’t even notice that! :cool_laugh:

LOL! And my congrats post just gave me the evil number so I have to post again. post

You still have that evil number of posts, Anamcara.

About the book, somebody unfortunately spoiled part of the story to me. I will know the fate of one of the characters while i read it.

:boogie: :boogie: :boogie:

I’m in a good mood now. I should really get back to reading the book, but the temptation of the forum is too much…

sigh Harry Potter has been spilling over into some of my dreams recently… and I’ve only read the book once so far! It’s too addictive, I say!

How could he die? CRAP! The coolest guy in the whole series dies… And another guy loses a LOT of his sexyness. I hope they rip his inners out in the next book!

WHAAAAAGGHHH TEMPTATION WHY DO YOU TORMENT ME WAAAAAGH
ahg screw im highlihghting it…WHAT…REALLY?? …THATS A REAL BAD SPOILER :bored: …NOOO NOW I KNOW
WHAAAAAAAAAAAGH TEMPTATION WHY DID YOU RUIN IT   WHAAAAAGH ok im goin to bed now :content:

I found a really nasty movie earlier - is was a guy in a van outside a Barnes and Noble in Texas. It was 1am and people were lining up to get the book.

He drove past the line shouting out a big spoiler - how evil is that. (had he done it on foot that would have been impressive.) chicken s***
