Myself I’ve experienced SP two times, the first time was kind of a shock, I was not prepared for it. Second time was a few minutes ago, I’m pretty sure it was an old hag though, I could hear hissing sounds, but I relaxed and didn’t open my eyes and woke up.
Also something tried to move me, I guess the old hag.
edit: Mods. if this is the wrong place to post such a topic, please move it, cheers!
2 times. One time was just before standerdised testing, and I passed out during the test. Okay, that’s stretching it, I perposefully fell asleep when I was done =D… anyway. The second time was… just this morning, actually. It was fine, I fell asleep by my own accord afterwards.
I used to have SPs a lot for a while. They usually come after nightmares and include creepy visuals. Like me going through a tunnel at high speed strapped to a metal board or just floating around like a log unable to move.
I have experienced SPs a few times but they never concerned me. Probably because I have already read alot about it on the web and in books. So when I do experience Old Hag or SPs I think “Ahh so this must be the SP bit, interesting.” Now if someone has not read of this or ever heard of it. I can see how it would be very frightening.
I think as you do Mr. Happy. I’ve never experienced SP before I read about (I know we all have it during REM though). Wasn’t really frightened by it, surprised however, and maybe a bit anxious.
Consciously, I think I had experienced it 12 times more or less. The first time that I felt it though I thought I was dying since I had no knowledge regarding SP! I’ve heard stories of such so I assumed that a spirit was playing with me or something. I forced my way out of the paralysis and found my heart beating erraticaly. Then I let it subside for a while then went back. Then while I’m still semi-conscious, it came back and again forced it away then I sat upright really scared, waited around 10 mins., went to the bathroom then I slept and it didn’t came back.
After that experience, I’ve been afraid to go to sleep thinking that I was cursed and the thought of it leading me to death. Even told it to my friends and they were likewise afraid. But now I guess I had solved the mystery behind my “spirit attacks” by stumbling on the word Lucid Dream in a website that I was consulting for interpretations of my dreams. There I found out what really was happening to me.
It’s only happened to me a couple times. The first time I was young, and I had never heard of it or anything before, so it really freaked me out. It must also be said that I was a very anxious kid. It took me a really long time to not be scared of going to sleep after that. Now when it happens I just try to stay calm, because I know I’ll snap out of it sooner or later.
i have sp almost every morning when i take a nap and about 80% of them are old hag experiences. i used to see people coming in my room and grabbing at me and i felt like i was sinking in my bed and my heart was slowly stopping. i would force my self awake (i used to think i would die if i let it go too lol) then go back to sleep. now i realize that sp for me almost always induces my lucid dream. during sp i hear all kinds of conversations and music and buzzing then im dreaming. but i have noticed that its hard for me to stay dreaming because i feel like something will attack my sleeping body and ill make myself wake up to make sure noones there.
I had a lot of SP as a kid. I’d wake up in the middle of the night with the dark pressing down on me making my body feel boxlike. There was always a black chasm beside my bed and like a rhythmic ticking whine in my head. I had no choice but to lay there until I fell back to sleep.
I had this between the ages of about 6-12 and it scared the bahoozits out of me. Quite alot of the time I was waking out of a nightmare as well. Although sometimes it did enduce an LD, I didn’t like the method.
I have experienced SP since the age of 14 I think. It was horrible the first time but since I sleep in the tram I have experienced SP around hundreds of time. I now know how it feels.
my first SP was last night, actually.
But since it was my first time, I was actually kind of scared as well
My body began to sink down in my bed, as if I were drowning.
I started gasping for air, and my head was being dragged up, although
my body still sunk. My feet became breezy under the sheets, and I could no
longer feel my blanket and my legwarmers
While I had SP, my body began to feel really numb and twitch all over.
I didnt know whether my eyes were closed or not as well, but I was sure I closed them. I began seeing wierd grassy-tentacle green things with a black background and made my eyes feel like they were open >.<. I blinked, and I noticed they were closed. I began seeing the same things again, and blinking once more wasnt a good idea I had a huge feeling something was pulling me up somewhere until
i blinked. DAYUM i was so close !
Its no idea to struggle against SP, for me when I felt it for first time I just let it take me to the dreamland. The day after my first SP I read about it, SP is when the nerves do a type of shutdown, but mind still awake. You feel like going through the bed, being pulled up from bed or you fall into another world (if you want to know my adventure check my DJ, Im Searching For The Truth By GHOSTIE11).
And I think Miles is going to experience SP one day.
Hmm, I find it interesting that almost every person who replied has experience SP before. Personally, I never have. Fairly often I wake up with my muscles feeling weak and like they don’t want to move, but a little willpower is all it takes to get me up and moving. So I have never really understood the concept of sleep paralysis.
