R3TRO how can you know you didn’t dream that you opened your eyes?
I thought the eye movement of REM was caused by your eye movement in your dreams (your eyes are one of the few body parts that aren’t paralysed during sleep).
Following on that, I don’t think your eyes would move quite as fast as you described.
And so, I persoanlly believe you just dreamt you opened your eyes (like Xetrov suggested).
Sureal that is indeed true, eyes follow the dream and thus seem to move rapidly to an observing outsider, hende REM.
… you… er… what now?
I second that. Wezzard, what is “somnambulistic” ? And, what in the world do you mean with “the sleep-study of complex Physics formulae embedding effortlessly into mind, transcending the necessity of normal native struggles”… this is really mind-bogling!
First of all, Xetrov I noe when I’m dreaming, I just do ive set it up so that I do, proven in the fact that ive had over 300 Lds in less than a months time.
Second my eyes were only moving for about a second, because I said when i open my eyes they will continue to move for about a second just like they do in my dreams, I think they were moving this fast because the dream I was just having lasted for about a year.
r3m0t, yeah i guess i should have done that, i just wasnt thinking, maybe next time.
Wezzard I’ll try to answer your question as soon as i learn greek No im kidding, but if you could put it so that a 15 year old boy who plays video games could understand it that would be super dooper
!!!
Ok wait a minute your putting words in my mouth i didnt say that it was just rolling around in my bed, i said when you roll over, like during a light sleep.
also the old hag faded away in like 2 seconds, i could have still been experiencing HI when i woke up, because it was still dark, all i was trying to say was that i had a cool experience.
Whether you believe me or not doesnt really matter to me, i just thought i would share an experience. We are all here to have fun and learn anyway
Remember if you put your mind to it, anything is possible, especially if its a dream, or in your mind.
I did not say you do know know when you are dreaming. Ofcourse you do, how could you claim i disagree on that??? I meant that it is very much possible that the “open eyes and look around” part was also part of a dream and not what happened to your physical body. There are people that have had 1000’s of lucids and OBE’s and still don’t realize that they are the same, why? Because OBE’s look so damn real! I state this example to let you see that what you think is happening doesnt need to be what’s real, even after 300 LD’s.
And about dreamtime lasting a year: this does not mean that your eyes are moving faster then normal. The brain is set up to think and experience at a certain speed (this includes dreams). If you would dream for a year in 10 minutes, and it would all be ‘real’ (meaning you would experience really a year time in this LD), your brain activity would increase 1000’s fold, your brainwave activity should go to 1 million Hz in stead of 10, etc etc. You see this isn’t really what happens, it is just not possible. An alternative and much more plausible exlanation is that extending dream time beyond liniar, waking life time, is that during sleep the brain/mind is highly susceptive to suggestion, to alteration of memory, etc (all of which is proved facts). For example, it is therefore easy to make yourself believe that a LD in which you spend a night which toke only 1 second in ‘real’ dreamtime (to bed and up again in the morning), as really lasting for 8 hours in ‘imagined’ dreamtime. I know you won’t agree on this but I thought i’d mention it anyway.
your right, Im sorry I must have read something wrong
Anyway, I dont want to make any enemies, so I dont want to get in an argument, maybe It was just and obe or sumthing, oh well i g2g eat. PEace !!!
Hehe no don’t worry there is a difference between making an enemy and someone that critically rethinks certain issues you posted on the forum.
kee dokie
Sorry if I ask some questions that are already asked, but your enormous amount of LD´s is also spoken about at the dutch forum.
Now is my english not that great to scroll through 12 pages of questions and answers so I decided to just post a new message.
First of al, isn´t it impossible to wake up 3 times every rem period!!?? I say this because if you would wake up your sleepstages will start all over again, so you would get a new REM after that. Please explain.
Second, I don´t thing scenary change counts for a new dream… because dreams are very complicated and trick your mind over and over again, even if you are lucid.
Third, Wouldn´t it be possible that you have FA ?? so you are dreaming, it looks like you woke up, but in stead you are still dreaming and you just go on dreaming but the sceneray changes. I think in that way it´s weird to talk about diffrent LD´s because in fact it´s just one dream.
If you say you know you weren´t dreaming, How do you know?
Last maybe after this there should be rules about how to count LD´s for the contest because it is clear some people count diffrent scenery and some don´t.
Ive only done the waking up during REM one time, just because freecube told me it was cool, I could barely keep my eyes open the next day because i was so tired.
I dont count scenery chang as a new Dream, i count my new dreams as new dreams, I know that it is a new dream, because i enter nREM, and then my other REM period ( i dont like being Lucid during deep sleep).
No it is not possible, because i do a RC every time i wake up, and my RCs never fail, because i know that they wont fail.
I count my LDs just like everyone else, so i dont see any need to put rules on the way people count them, also putting rules on LDing would probably hinder some people from being able to LD, SUBc’s are weird that way.
Ooo, looks like there’s this “I don’t believe you!” kinda thing going on on the forums these days. Hmmm.
Which is exactly why this thread was started
I’m bad at reading long threads when they are quickly updated, so it wasn’t until now when i carefully read both old thread and this one (i checked some posts even before, but not carefully). I got couple of questions.
- About this old hag,
And…
If this was so short and dark experience, how do you know that she flyed into someone’s else house?
- In old thread there was a suggestion to go into Astral Library to read some history text. One of you told that he cannot read in LD. Does it applies to you both? Can you hack your brain and make it believe that you can read in your dreams? It should be as easy as anything else what you have convinced your brain to do. I have even remembered certain sentences from my dreams and wroted them down after wakening up.
Thanks
In the old hag experience everything was going extremely fast, Sorry Xetrov i guess it could have been REM , so it lasted for 2 seconds, but somehow i remember it all.
The night after that was posted, i went into my dreamscape and tryed reading some books, not from the library, and i could read them just fine, i had just never tryed to read in an LD before. Freecube was the one who said he couldnt read in his LDs, or he hadnt tryed something like that, but he fixed it that night too, I think.
Hey R3TRO and Freecube. Sorry if I’m repeating anyone here, cba to read through 13 pages to see if anyone already asked this.
But you say that you can make dreamtime last for years.
I read in the book by Steven LaBerge that dreamtime is almost completely the same as irl time, he made an experiment where he would signal to the dreamlab by moving his eyes in the dream, then count to 10 and then signal again, it took 13 seconds for him and he said that’s the same estimation as he does in real life to.
Since you guys seems to be so good at lucid dreaming, you should contact LaBerge or a dream-lab, then you could prove to the sceptics that you can LD that much for sure.
If this question has been asked before can you please link me to that page (or I’ll have to read through everything when I got more time to )
I think the general agreement about dream time lasting longer than normal is that the brain will skip over unimportant parts in the dream and fill in false memories to account for the gap.
That is a misunderstanding. Now I know I’m not R3TRO or FreeCube…but I have enough knowledge because I too have experienced lengthy dreams…lasting days…or maybe weeks. It’s really not that easy to say…except for saying it does last that long, and it is possible. You can’t really judge it if you havn’t tried it yourself. Just because it hasn’t been tested…doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. What LaBerge did was he was dreaming, with no intention of staying in a dream for an extended amount of time. Therefor…The time periods would react the same. But to trick your mind in to getting you to stay in a dream for a long time, would cause different effects. Think of it like this. Time goes by really fast when your having fun, but it can go by sooo slowly when you are bored. Your brain can basically slow down time in a sense…or speed it up… Now don’t take that literally…its just an example.
If you really really want to believe me, try it out for yourself. All judgements you have now, will be gone. Just next time you LD…say you will make it last longer, and believe you will. Or go visually if that helps, by like eating a pill that you believe will make the dream last longer.
Once you do this, you will know your brain isn’t “putting in false memories” because you don’t see anything skip at all during the dream. It flows as smooth as real life does.
