The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything

This is Quest 42! :boogie: And well, when thinking of the next Quest, this just had to be the Quest for this month! If you wonder why, read or watch Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy :wink:

Now, the aim of this Quest is to obtain an answer in your lucid dream, an answer to any Question you might have. It may be one of the deep ones, like: “Where do we all come from and what is the point of this existence?” or a more mundane one like:“what hair color suits me best?”.

The point is that you ask a Question, AND obtain an answer. Do both, and you receive this months wings, with extra cheese added, compliments of the mice :grin:

To complete this Quest and earn your wings

  • Become lucid ( :tongue: )
  • Ask your Question
  • Obtain an answer. Doesn’t matter how, can be a sudden insight, can be a vocal one, can be visual. As long as you get an answer to your Question, after you asked it.
  • Post your dream in this topic (a link to your DJ is allowed but you have to post in this topic that you have succeeded)

It would be cool to hear what Questions you are thinking of asking for this Quest, so if you join, let us know by posting in this topic :content: It may even be inspiring for others who want to do this Quest but don’t know of a good Question to ask.

Please be very clear if you feel you have completed the Quest or want to try again - I will only give wings if you feel you have been succesfull in completing the Quest, the wings are a reward for yourself.

I will give everyone who earned it their wings at the end of this Quest, so please be patient

Who/what you ask the Question to is ofcourse dependent on the Question you have, but may I suggest:

  • ask the dream itself
  • ask a dream character
  • ask out loud and read the answer in a book
  • ask yourself while looking in a mirror
  • or maybe ask some white mice…

Preparations/Incubation
Before going to sleep or while doing your LD incubation technique (WILD/WBTB/MILD, etc):

  • set your mind for this Quest
  • decide on your Question and who you are going to ask.

Post your attempts, whether you feel you succeeded or not, in this topic :smile:

This quest will push me in the direction! I’m with it. I have always tried to do this, but always forgot when I was lucid. Hopefully this will make me remember! :tongue:

I read the titel to this thread and :rofl: then I read the content of the quest :wow: Interesting quest you put up :grin: so you really mean all questions ca be answered?

I have to do this. It’s the easiest quest I’ve seen. But I still can’t lucid dream ‘fluently’ :neutral:

Really difficult to be lucid lately, but I don’t care! I WILL do this quest!! :grin:

Next time I’m lucid I’ll definitely put this on the top of my to-do list. :happy:

Good thing I have all month since I’ve really slacked with RCs and recalling recently. Ah well. Sounds like it should provide some pretty insightful (or comedic) results.

I think I will ask what area of my job to specialise in.

I wonder whether I’ll get a good answer or a completely bogus one like another dream invite to “join the fairy dancers- a once and only offer!” :tongue:

Hi I am new but I will give this a go. My question will be “why are we capable of feeling extreme pain?”. I don’t know if I will do very well, I LD every time I dream but have never premeditated an idea or action from the real world to enact in a dream before.

Plan is to simply ask it to the dream itself, I imagine that if I do get an answer it will be quite bizarre rather than profound :smile:

edit: So I gave it a go, as expected I didnt remember to ask while I was asleep. As soon as I woke up I went back to sleep to try again. This time I remembered and asked my question. Basically the result was pretty weird. The dream changed to a series of events like being unable to answer the door when somebody knocked. They went by pretty quickly in the dream and I understood I was seeing missed opportunities. After these finished I was left with the answer ‘it’s a deep pattern’.

Anyway doesn’t make a whole lot of sense but I gave it a shot, just glad I was able to remember as much as I did.

I’m breaking out of my LD rut by nailing this one.

I need a question though…I’d love to ask “If 42 is the answer, what is the question?” and try to utilize my mind-connection with our great big planet-computer and harness it’s epic processing power XP

If that one fails I’ll settle with something personal. Something that my SC can actually deal with. What have I been having trouble with lately?

I’m giving it a try! I’m going to ask a DC if he is a real person. I assume he will tell me yes but I’m really curious.

Once I actually HAVE a LD, I will ask them this. Why is death naturally excepted as the end? Why do people mourn the passing of people? I, for one, would want people to celebrate how good of a life I had, and wish me luck wherever I may be taken to next :beer:

:beer: Cheers! Well said. I don’t believe that death is the end, it is sad because you miss that person in your life. I think people think of it as the end because they are scared of what they don’t know. For some people belief is not enough. I don’t believe in endings because nothing ever ends! :wink:
