Welcome to the 59th Lucid Challenge

The Lucidity Challenge (LC for short) is a game that is intended to provide some additional motivation for people who are trying to have lucid dreams. Everyone is welcome, from complete beginner to expert. Each week there will be new challenge tasks posted in this forum thread.

The challenge will last 4 to 5 weeks with every week including new tasks. The proposed start date is Friday 28th April 2017, assuming we have some sign ups by that date!

You score points for having dreams (lucid or non-lucid) and for doing challenge tasks. Lucid dreams score more points: the details of the scoring system are described later in this post.

At the end, the person with the highest score is given the option of hosting the next challenge; if they don’t want to do it, the option to host passes on the second place scorer, and so on. Apart from that, there are no prizes; the goal is to have fun!

When claiming points, you can either post the dream in your DJ and link to it in a reply to this topic, or in spoiler tags in the post if it is short. A brief summary, if nothing else - along the lines of “I had a medium length lucid dream in which I successfully turned my pet cat into a goldfish for the first time”. A full DJ entry is not required for fragments and non-lucid dreams.

1pt for fragments - scenes or actions you can’t form into a coherent dream (can only claim 1 per night)
2pts for a non-lucid dream

Wondering if you are dreaming (but not becoming lucid) 5pts
Realising you are dreaming or a Short lucid dream 20pts (estimate based on your previous lucid dreams)
Medium lucid 30pts
Long lucid 40pts
First lucid ever or Longest lucid dream you’ve ever had 50pts

Personal goal (non-lucid) - 20pts
Personal goal while lucid - 100pts

This is really about pushing your limits and trying new things. If you are a beginner, then performing any special action in a lucid dream will gain you extra points. So, flying, +5pts, telekinesis +5ps, casting a magic spell +5pts, summoning something +5pts, changing your scenery +5pts, transforming part of your body +5pts, etc etc

If you are an intermediate or expert lucid dreamer, then I expect you to be a bit more judicial about what you claim. If you fly a lot in your dreams, then don’t claim points unless you have done something that you find challenging - flying faster than ever before, flying to space, flying with wings, summoning something directly in your field of vision, transforming into something you have never tried before like an octopus - can you control 8 limbs at once?

This is highly subjective and based on your personal experience, so YOU need to tell me that you have earned these extra points and what for. This isn’t something that will be immediately obvious to me reading your DJ entries, so don’t be shy, celebrate your success. Be proud of your accomplishments. Push yourself to try new experiences.

(N.B. There’s no limit, but if people become very spammy or start abusing it, I will put a limit on it to keep the competition balanced. :cool: )

Weekly Tasks
Doing a task (from any week, either lucid or non-lucid) - see specific task descriptions for points value. There is no time limit for tasks. Once a task is posted, it is valid until the end of the competition.
Lucid bonus - 20pts for doing any of the week’s tasks while lucid. you can earn this bonus once for each week of tasks
Combo/Early bonus - 20pts do a task alongside another from a different week’s tasks, or, complete a task in the week it is posted i.e. “current” task

I have left the changes of Obfusc8 in the challenge for the Non Lucid dreams scoring points, as I thought that adding the dream recall to the challenge was a great idea to improve the overall lucidity of the participants. :happy:

Let’s see of I can actually keep up with the challange this time. My internet connection has been rather temperamental. My personal goal is one I’ve been chasing for some time, I have been dreaming with my horse friend for some time, but I’ve never found his name.

I’m loving life out here in the bush, it’s so much simpler. Right now I’m sitting on the roof of my truck, watching the sunrise, listening to the birds.
