Introduction
Hello everyone, and welcome to the Long-Term Lucid Tasklist! This is a new, ongoing “challenge” to encourage lucid dreaming and dream journaling… something I’ve found I could use a little bit of encouragement in, as of late. So without further ado, let’s get right into it!
Specifics
The LTLT will start on 2021-01-02T02:00:00Z and a new, highly focused task will be released every two weeks from that time going forward. The tasks are short and to the point, similar to the Quest. A backlog of tasks capable of lasting throughout the first year has been established and any suggestions are welcome. (Please contact me via PM.)
In order to sign up for the LTLT… simply claim points after the start date listed above! Speaking of points, in order to claim points you must post a dream journal entry here on the forum or an excerpt in this thread for everyone to read. As part of this task is to encourage journaling (to some extent) all point claims must be backed by a journal entry (either a short summary or a long detailed one, you decide). A simple bullet point list of what you’re trying to claim will not suffice. Additionally, only one lucid-dream length and one task may be claimed per night! This is the “Long-Term” Lucid Tasklist, after all.
The following points can be claimed:
Lucid Points
Unlike the LC, lucid points are awarded with fixed time scales. When you have a Lucid Dream, select the time span that you feel most accurately captures how long your lucid dream felt.
Time Span | Point Value |
---|---|
< 2 Minutes | 1 |
< 4 Minutes | 2 |
< 6 Minutes | 3 |
< 8 Minutes | 4 |
> 8 Minutes | 5 |
Task Points
Each task may be done up to 5 times, awarding first 5 points, then one point less for each succession for a maximum of 15 points per task. You may only claim one task, out of all released tasks, per night! Again, “Long-Term”.
A task board to track everyone’s accomplishments will be available here after the first task has been posted. Additionally, you will be able to peruse the task backlog should you wish to spoil yourself!
Similarities?
To the Lucid Challenge
The Lucid Challenge is more akin to a sprint while the LTLT is more like a marathon. The LTLT is endless, with no host turnover or the chance that it will fall by the wayside (unless I run out of tasks ). Furthermore, LCs usually follow some kind of theme or host-driven narrative. The Long-Term Lucid Tasklist will have nothing of the such and will consist only of short to define and relatively clear-cut objectives.
To the Quest
The LTLT is quite similar to the Quest. The main difference is that it incorporates something similar to the LC’s point tracking. Additionally, the quest lacks competition which I’ve found can be a great lucidity motivator. The LTLT is partly an experiment to see if the motivating drive of the LC can be stretched out to an indefinite length. How well this experiment will work… we’ll find out in a year!
